U.S. may buy up banks’ toxic assets

I still don't understand how they think they are going to convince private investors to buy Toxic assets.

Seems to be a very small "might". I don't think they're going to get anywhere near the response from private investors that they hope.

These are about half of the front page headlines on cnbc.com right now. Show these to someone a year ago and they shit themselves/don't believe you.

# Obama Set to Detail New Program for Toxic Assets

Our money. Probably never get to know specifically what it buys "for our own safety". It is buying something no one else wants and EVERYONE calls toxic. Wow.

# Bernanke: US Must Resolve 'Too Big to Fail' Problem

The government started this "problem" and now they plan to fix it. I'm sure this will go well...

# Activists Take AIG Bonuses Fight to Executives' Homes

Good - people getting pissed off.
Bad - they are somehow missing the source completely.

# Spring Sale: Home Sellers May Flood the Market Soon

Well, I think what we really need is more homes on the market...

# Obama Indicates Budget Compromises Possible

Isn't he sooooooo generous?! The man who's job is merely to execute has decided he may let the people who are suppose to write and approve of the budget to have some say in it.

# Geithner's Job at Treasury Safe, Obama Says

Unspoken rules:
screw up in government = rewarded
screw up in enormous company = rewarded, but then later blamed
screw up in any other role, like by being a tax paying citizen who works = just plain screwed

# WaMu Sues FDIC for $13 Billion Over Bank Failure

Now we have two companies, who are owned by our money, suing the government for what they have done.

It is so hard to imagine how blind I used to be to the government growing and abusing. But c'mon, this is just so blatant that I find it increasingly difficult to believe how resistant people are to questioning this administration.

I can't believe the public at large can stand buy and watch this stuff go down and not be out in the streets in full-on RIOT.

We truly are a sissy nation (about total Pussification).

This will change as conditions further deteriorate.

Pretty accurate assessment. Is it a coincidence or is there an underlying thread to the convergence of so many factors aiding those at the top succeeding while those at the bottem suffer? Tread carefully with this consideration as you may be tarred and feathered as a conspiracy theorist...

It's probably because they don't understand it. I can imagine most of them wondering if it has anything to do with the environment...You know...TOXIC.

Until all those who voted the idiots in, are mad, you will not see many in the streets.

The sad part is, by the time they wake up to BO and friends it will likely be too late.

We are going to need to see all that showed up for his Coronation, to show back up on the mall. Then throw in the rest and something will change.

Nevada and CA needs to get their act together and get Harry and Nancy voted out. How much more do the voters need to see of these two.

What does it take to start a bank?

Can i make a bunch of bad loans today and have the government reimburse me for them tomorrow?
