(Reuters) - U.S. drone strikes killed a Pakistani grandmother and 18 civilian laborers last year, Amnesty International said on Tuesday, shedding new light on a major source of tension in U.S.-Pakistani relations.

Islamabad publicly opposes drone attacks, saying they kill too many civilians in addition to their intended target - Islamist militants. The precise extent of human loss on the ground is unclear, however, because independent journalists and researchers have only limited access to the affected regions.

Pakistan's North Waziristan is the area of the most intensive U.S. drone campaign in the world. Many jihadi fighters have been eliminated, but neither the Pakistani government nor the United States releases details about those killed.

Amnesty said it had conducted a detailed investigation into two strikes in North Waziristan, yielding a report based on more than 60 interviews conducted by teams of researchers working independently of each other.

"We were really shocked, especially with the grandmother case. At first we thought, that can't be true - there must be something more to this," said Mustafa Qadri, the Amnesty researcher who wrote the report.

"People who are clearly no imminent threat to the U.S., are not fighting against the U.S., are being killed. The U.S. has to come clean publicly with the justifications for these killings."

London-based Amnesty said a drone strike in the village of Ghundi Kala in October 2012 killed Mamana Bibi, 68, the wife of a retired school principal, as she was gathering vegetables.

Her five grandchildren were wounded, including Safdar, 3, who fell off a roof and broke bones in his chest and shoulders. It was unclear why the Bibi was hit. The weather was clear, providing good visibility to drone operators, the report said.

Obama is a murderer.
I hope whenever his crimes catch up to him they shove that fucking "peace prize" up his ass

Yes, and the American people expect the psychopaths responsible for this to care about their health.

I guess, in a sense, death is the final cure. At least the original statist (Plato) felt that way.

This news is from last year, since Boston marathon, drone attacks have gone down by 90% or so.

That said, US Congress just gave standing ovation to DC police after it killed an unarmed black mother with her daughter in car with her in the Freedom capitol of the world. Brownish grandma, grandchildren, children in a foreign country is an easy 'dont't care'. But this explains why they seem so pissed at SWC.. but not knowing that he is just a mid to lo level puppet in the apparatus.

Not an easy call to make to support his extradition, he himself has two small daughters. For accountability of a suspected war criminal, a trial in the US would be better option imo according to US Constitutional and war crimes laws. His neecon masters role should be investigated too to determine whether he was a willing party to alleged crimes or was being abused/threatened/coerced behind the scenes.

On a different note, if protesters are so fiesty so far away from alleged Obama war crime scenes, it's got be far more turbulent near the actual crime scenes. There were some lib suggestions way back that Obama should visit parents/families of children killed by drone attacks his pup masters had him wage but considering past protests there, that would not have been smart idea and his neocon masters made the right call to not dispatch him on public relatons tour there.

Amnesty report on Pakistan drone strikes contradicts US assurances of precision

The US insists that almost all drone strikes in Pakistan hit legitimate targets, but a new Amnesty International report says at least 29 civilians have been killed since 2012.

Pakistani tribal villagers hold a rally in Islamabad, Pakistan, in Dec. 2010 to condemn the US drone attacks on their villages in border areas along the Afghanistan border. Amnesty International today issued a report providing new details about innocent citizens allegedly killed in the attacks.

US drone attacks in Pakistan have killed at least 29 noncombatants since 2012 – deaths that could be categorized as war crimes, Amnesty International said today in a report released just a day before Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is set to meet with President Obama.
The report, “‘Will I be Next?’ US Drone Strikes in Pakistan” was released by Amnesty International in conjunction with a separate report by New York-based Human Rights Watch on US drone attacks in Yemen. The Amnesty report analyzed 45 publicly known drone attacks in the most commonly targeted region of Pakistan where the Taliban has been particularly active, North Waziristan, between January 2012 and August 2013.
The timing of the report's release puts perhaps the most sensitive issue in US-Pakistan relations in the spotlight as the two leaders meet.

Can you imagine if your grandmother or family was obliterated by another country's drones (supposedly an ally)? What would be your opinion of the responsible party? Would you be more or less likely to join a resistance group or embrace a new ideology since everything you held dear in life was taken away?

Drone strikes create more terrorists. That's a fact. So if the stated purpose of the drone murders is to stop terrorism, our rulers are imbiciles or psychopaths. I vote for psychopaths as they seek ever more power and control and drone strikes ensure a steady stream of new bad guys to justify their expansion of the state.

It sickens me to no end.

I had a thread about this as well. What made me ill, is the delusional drone apologists in the comments section.

One guy goes on a rant saying, "These are not innocent people, these are terrorists! Blah Blah Blah! Hey Amnesty why don't you go there and find out the truth! These are are not innocent victims! blah blah. But you are afraid to Go there to find out!"

I was thinking....So you know this HOW!? Sitting on your computer you know these dead people are terrorists and not innocent victims?

It's fucking ridiculous.

And on and on it goes.

The people in "our government" who are killing others in in my name have proven themselves to be liars.

They do not have my consent, they do not represent me or my beliefs.

This holds true for those killed in foreign countries as well as right here in the US.

I think sociopath would be the more correct term. A psychopath cannot distinguish from right or wrong. Whereas our rulers know full well. However this idea of collateral damage has always been a bit murky.

If we create more terrorists than kill, we arent even breaking even.

"I have a dream." MLK

"I have a drone." -Obama

There is a gradual shift taking place I suspect. Channel surfing while driving yesterday caught a soundbite of Travis Smiley and Cornel West on PBS radio where they were both essentially agreeing that SWC's "drone presidency" is reign of a war criminal. West has been vocal for sometime but gradually even SWC's college buddies are starting to call him war criminal.
Smily also was saying that data shows that black people are worse since "Wall Street President" Obama took charge but that is topic for a another time.

This is old clip, TYT host is yapping around but it has good info value still:

I would devote my entire life to killing those responsible, if it were my family or friend.
