TX CFL Coordinator Debra Medina files to run for Governor of Texas!!!

Maybe my idea of hanging "effigy" taxpayers in trees in your front yard with signs below them that say "Texas Taxpayer, hung out to dry by KAY BAILEY HUTCHINSON, R, REPRESENTING WALL STREET" can find a use in this race?

:D

imo, the best offense is a damn-good offense.

given the dynamics of the texas gooobernatorial race, the best strategy for winning will be defeating the opposition. maybe she is above character assassination, but i most certainly am not.

As a candidate in politics it is best to be above the fray.

Your friends on the otherhand, well lets just say we all believe in freedom. ;)

email her! even if you arent in texas.

she needs to get her face out there asap - this isn't going to be easy.

though, alot of people are anti-perry, i think she'll be competing against kay bailey more.

yep, i emailed them and let them know my donation was waiting!!

"In other news, racial overtones tint the campaign as bodies hanging from nooses are placed all over texas... an early, ugly turn by the racist, gunowning, government hating bigots."

Maybe find a different way to display it. I really like the idea though. Maybe fake campaign signs- when the dems were ousting chaffe in RI, he did everything to seperate himself from the republicans. His ads had democrats- only lefty republicans did robocalls- etc.

Well the dems put out signs that copied chaffe's font and style- but instead of Keep Chaffe it said "Support Bush".

They were pretty effective down here.

Maybe something like "Kay Bailout Hutchinson"

Kay bailout is perfect.

Even if you aren't from Texas, email her and inform her that you will donate and phone bank for her campaign if she chooses to run.

I am.

I talk to Deb often, especially in the leadup to our state convention next weekend in Austin, and would like to clarify that while she's certainly hearing from people who want her to do this, she hasn't made up her mind yet. That's why the mail that was in the OP is calling for people to contact her and let her know what they think, with words and/or funds. It's true she's filed a treasuer's report with the TEC to let her gauge support and talk about things, but there's no office listed so it's not accurate to say she's filed for the governor's race at this time.

I don't want to dampen any enthusiasm--quite the contrary. I just want to make sure people have their expectations in the right place and understand there's a lot for her to think about before deciding if this is going to happen. You can help by letting her know if you want to see it and are willing to work to make it a reality.

Also, Deb is a Republican Party of Texas County Chair and former candidate for Vice-Chair of the RPT. If she gets in this race, it's safe to say it will be as a Republican.
