And to answer TheTexan, they're both cute, but too young.

Edit: I take that back. One is 18 and the other is 21.

Anti Federalist, not sure what racial angle they could play. One of the girls is white and one mixed. Shooter is Latino.

From a "self defense" point of view it sounds like the girls had gotten out of the car and were backing away before getting shot. So even with a "stand your ground" law there is no self defense claim just like there wasn't for the white guy that shot and killed the black dude in Florida some years ago over a handicapped parking place. (White dude was arguing with black dude's wife. Black dude shoved white dude. White dude pulled a gun. Black dude backed away with hands up. White dude shot and killed him and tried to claim "stand your ground." All of this was caught on video. White dude ended up in prison.)

I read the article, and I wonder if something is fishy about this.

The first question would be how similar is her car to Rodriguez's car.

If they are not really similar then something else is going on.

Doesn't matter. It's Texas. If two cheerleaders want to kill a man, it's his manly duty to smile and say, what a way to go!

I know more than once I've walked up to what I thought was my car in the parking lot and it was another car of the same make and model just parked near to where my car was. So yeah, I believe their story. I can also believe he thought they were going to carjack him. Once they got out of the car and were trying to get away he had no reason to shoot. But I'm sure if he has a legitimate defense he'll raise it. We'll see.

...

The MSM has an agenda. They can report on shootings every day of the week. The objective is banning guns, and if divisive racial strife can be added to the mix, it’s a twofer for them.

They could report on dogs biting people, even killing people every day if they wanted a dog ban.

Yeah....but this has all the elements of newsworthiness. Cute cheerleaders shot for no apparent reason. Remember the mass knifing Idaho University? That was national news as well.

I was just coming in here to post that, thanks for covering it.

I don't think there is any racial angle to play on this one...the PTB will probably just use this for "generic" gun control propaganda.

But you bring up a good point that is important to remember if you carry a sidearm for lethal self defense: in all fifty states, regardless of stand your ground laws, you no longer have the right to use deadly force against an attacker, if they are clearly dis-engaging and ceasing the attack.

THREAD: Florida car-park killing: Gunman guilty as 'stand your ground' defence fails

I know more than once I've walked up to what I thought was my car in the parking lot and it was another car of the same make and model just parked near to where my car was. So yeah, I believe their story.

Way back in the day, I worked night shift at a 24-hour grocery store.

A co-worker was going to give me a ride home in the wee hours of a cold winter morning, but he couldn't get his car unlocked. He bought a can of de-icer, but no luck. We were at wit's end, having rejected the possibility of contriving to use a wire clothes hanger (since, unlike de-icer, the store didn't stock those), and my friend had just decided to call and wake up his girlfriend and have her come pick us up. That was when an as-yet-unnoticed zero-dark-thirty shopper who had been watching us interrupted and asked if that was our car over there. And sure enough, several parking "aisles" over in the nearly empty lot was my friend's car - same make, same model, same color. The guy had been watching us for a few moments, bemused, as we had been diligently trying to "break" into his car. (If he hadn't had his door locked ...)
