Two gunmen carrying explosives attack anti Muslim art contest in Texas

Blaming the Mohammed art contest is like saying the art contest deserved it because they offended people to act in a violent way.

Okay. By that logic, we can blame rape victims. We can say rape victims dressed too sexy, which gave the rapist the wrong idea!

Both the mohammed contest and the rape victim did nothing wrong. They both were practicing their freedoms without hurting anyone. but they both got attacked.

Would you say a person who left a wallet full of cash in the middle compartment of a car in a high crime area were asking to be robbed? Its evident that this is exactly the reaction they were looking for and they got just that. I would go as far as to say that they probably tweeted the event to the ISIS twitter account so they can send down a few excuse for a human being down there to attack the event.

Personally, I am deeply offended that there are Muslims out there that still listen to anything ISIS says, that some Muslims are more offended from a drawing that real crimes of rape and murder committed by ISIS against innocent Muslim people. Hate to say it, but I applaud Pamela Geller and her crew for taking care of such depraved individuals. These people are a disgrace to the vast majority of the Muslims who don't violently react to drawings.

People are just going to let this claptrap slide?

Yes, if we compared this to rape you can definitely blame the person who gets raped.

If you dress slutty, purposefully go to a neighborhood concentrated with rapists, advertise that you're offering $12,500 for the chick who can dance the sluttiest, all for the purpose of showing that you aren't going to let the rapists control your life, and you get raped, yes, it is your fault.

If you cut yourself and jump into a shark tank because you are protesting shark aggression against humans and a shark bites you it is also your fault.

If you drive into a wall to protest your hatred against inertia and you get a concussion it is also your fault.

Is the wall also guilty of being a wall and having mass and interia? Yes.
Is the shark also guilty of eating tasty humans? Yes.
Is the rapist guilty of the raping? Yes.

Grow up people.

Staged event.

I suspect the idiots that were killed were recruited and armed by the same folks that promoted the "art show".

It is not hard to find half-wits and soup them up. for just about anything.

as to the "Free Speech" issue,,,

The event was deliberately provocative.

This seems likely.

That social media thing = all too convenient to stage false intent and " evidence "

Jesus has been mocked and disparaged to the point that it has become almost tedious. As far as burning a piece of fabric that was likely created in China, knock yourself out. I'm not going to assemble a war party with explosives in tow and storm the event. Only crazy people do something like this. We have our own crazy people, but theirs are on another level, actually a 6th century level to be precise.

No I totally agree. They had every right to put on this event and had every right to defend against men with explosives. My point is that I don't think these conservatives fully appreciate the principle of their current position, as they would most likely take the opposing side if it were an antagonistic event aimed at something offensive to them personally.

So you are comparing American Muslims to a tankful of bloodthirsty sharks?
They just can't help it,it's in their genes?

People that listen to ISIS are actually more irrational that sharks. i have seen pit bulls with more self control than ISIS terrorists. I suggest you go to Liveleak and play around in the Syria section of the site. The things you will see will scare the living daylight out of you.

I think shark fans should be offended by the comparison.

This happened in Texas...USA..not Iraq

I'm comparing criminals to the predictable blind forces of nature. I'm comparing these "free speech activists" to idiots who throw themselves down in front of those forces and claim to be martyrs.

Keep practicing, goober.

Think of it as two people offended by the 1st Amendment were rapidly introduced to the 2nd.

The second amendment allows for shooing up cartoon contests?

EDIT: Read this backwards. I read "people offending by the 1st amendment...", which caused me to totally misunderstand it.

This exactly. I'm not going to hold such a contest in Saudi Arabia. But then, I wouldn't try to buy a beer there either. Maybe we should ban alcohol here, too, so as not to offend.

Yes, let's all refrain from any kinds of activities or speech that may offend anybody anywhere in the world. God knows if I make fun of clown shoes some zealot with big feet might come and try to kill me, and it will be all my fault.

The second amendment allows for the defense of cartoon contests against violent attack with anything up to and including deadly force.
That is exactly what happened here and I celebrate it.

How am I a muslim hater?

Don't know if you are. It's the internet, dude. You could be a child, a cop, me, a robot, or a figment of my imagination.

Because of the nature of the medium I must judge you by your words alone.

Your sentence indicated you were clueless what the poster you quoted was saying, but you sided against the shooters anyway even though you are obviously aware of the whole story.

By taking one side when both sides are guilty you show your true intent. Or at least that's what your words say.

I can't believe what people "say they are" online because the back-pedaling is atrocious because of the fact that no one follows anyone and holds them accountable. I must hold people accountable for their words, post by post.

Are you trying to say that there are no places in the US where a woman risks being raped by dressing slutty and walking about alone? Cos men taking advantage of a woman is something that only happens in oversea countries.

There is a reason why bait cars, to catch a predator etc etc works even in the US. if you bait a criminal, they will likely show up and what better way to bait a rapist than to dress slutty and walk around alone.

They weren't martyrs, they killed those POS worthless criminal savages dead.

Don't ya love it?

Blogger Pamela Geller speaks at a Sept. 11, 2012, conference she organized in New York titled "Stop Islamization of America."

David Karp/AP

After two gunmen opened fire at the site of a Muhammad cartoon drawing contest Sunday night in Garland, Texas, the American Freedom Defense Initiative, which organized the event, is once again in the spotlight.
Here are five things you should know about the group.
1. Anti-Islam or pro-free speech? The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks extremist groups, lists the American Freedom Defense Initiative as an "active anti-Muslim group."
The New-York-based AFDI says its goal is simply to "go on the offensive when legal, academic, legislative, cultural, sociological, and political actions are taken to dismantle our basic freedoms and values."
2. Pamela Geller is the group's executive director. Again, the SPLC describes her as "the anti-Muslim movement's most visible and flamboyant figurehead."
Geller runs a website called Atlas Shrugs, which The New York Times says "attacks Islam with a rhetoric venomous enough that PayPal at one point branded it a hate site."
Geller, of course, doesn't think of it that way. In fact, in a speech delivered just before the contest for cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad opened, she defended her group's actions.
She referenced the January attack on the offices of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which was targeted over its own depictions of the prophet.
Geller said that over the years, she has seen an "abridgment of freedom of speech" and her group was gathered to counter that. She says that limiting speech that offends Muslims will hasten the march toward a Sharia state.
"We are here for freedom of speech," she said. "Everything else is a smear."
3. The group was recording as it received word of the shooting. A police officer in tactical gear delivered the news.
The crowd inside the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland went quiet, and as the police officer began to leave, someone shouted, "Was the suspect Muslim?" The video is here; we are not embedding it because it does feature drawings of Muhammad.
4. The group was last in the news over controversial subway ads. As we reported, the group took the New York Transit Authority to court and won the right to post controversial ads at 10 subway stations.
The ads read: "In any war between the civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man." In smaller letters, it added: "Support Israel. Defeat Jihad."
5. Geller is also the leader of the group Stop Islamization of America, which often acts in concert with the American Freedom Defense Initiative. If you remember, StopIslamization of America led the fight against Park 51, a planned Muslim community center not far from the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in New York City.
Geller denounced the project as "the ground zero mega-mosque." On her blog she wrote:
"What could be more insulting and humiliating than a monster mosque in the shadow of the World Trade Center buildings brought down by Islamic attack?
"Worse still, the design is a mockery of the World Trade Center building design. Islamic jihad took down those buildings when they attacked, destroyed and murdered 3,000 people in an act of conquest and Islamic supremacism. What better way to mark your territory than to plant a giant mosque on the still-barren land of the World Trade Center? Sort of a giant victory lap. Any decent American, Muslim or otherwise, wouldn't dream of such an insult. It's a stab in eye of America. What's wrong with these people? Have they no heart? No soul?"

So much cognitive dissonance the Muslim-haters can't even recognize each others signals.

Hint: you're both on the same side.

Muslim haters? I'd venture to say that a strong plurality here would support putting a glass bubble around the Middle East and avoid personal contact for 100 years.

You are seriously blaming the mental defectives at the art contest, for these two psychopaths shooting at them?

I mean, this really wasn't satire, or a joke?
