Twitter Debate Ron Paul not Invited??

Why does the Republican Liberty Caucus dislike Ron Paul?

It doesn't. Why would you ask that question? All but one of the RLCNH folks I know like Ron Paul. The other one, the guy that helped set up this debate, I have no idea how he feels. I know he met with Trump when Trump came to NH and worked for a Congressman from MI that is running for President but I think he did those only as part of his job, being a political consultant. You don't exactly get rich as being head of the RLCNH, if it pays at all. Just a guess, but Andrew seems more conservative than the average RLCNH person to me. Andrew is super nice and very tech savoy. He is the person that encouraged me to create a twitter account.

The former head of the RLCNH is the Chair of the Ron Paul Campaign in NH. He was also endorsed by Ron Paul in 2008. He will be speaking at LPAC 2011 and is a truly outstanding person. He seems to love Ron Paul and I think he may even love gold and silver.

As for why Ron Paul isn't confirmed for the debate yet, that's up to Ron Paul and his staff. I don't blame Andrew for Ron's decisions.

I don't think the outcome of the Republican Primary will be determined by a twitter debate.

It's difficult to quote even one good sentence from his books in 140 characters + hashtags. I made so much fun of Obama's "twitter town hall." Glad Ron isn't doing this.

I'm glad he isn't doing it also. It is a stunt.

Besides his policies need backstory, because people have been fed garbage for so long.

You do realize that you can post links in tweets right? Why not just use one of the 1000+ youtube videos to answer a question. It's about reaching people in new creative ways. Not participating on Twitter could be a big reason why the account only has 14k followers after 3+ months of working on it.

He should participate in twitter, but it would take him half an hour to write an answer with the depth necessary to explain his positions and unless the questions are given in advance, I think this format doesn't make sense for him for a debate. In any event, he isn't doing it. And using supporter made videos would endorse every word, and they aren't all his words, often. Frankly, I think it would be run by a staff member, and I would hate them to misphrase what he thinks so when he says what he actually thinks somewhere else, it sounds like he flipped.

I'm pretty certain Ron Paul does not actually compress his thoughts into twitter on a regular basis, and after a couple of months on there, I am still getting the hang of how to get my thoughts across. It wouldn't actually be him doing it.

This is perfect for Cain - any of the 'sound bite/slogan' candidates. Not so great for Ron imho.

And who is going to watch? Only activists with a dog in the race. They won't be persuaded away in 140 digits, and WILL use things against other candidates if they say something inartfully.

I'm certainly not remotely interested in looking at it, but may mine it later for things to use against other candidates.

I wasn't even talking about user made videos. There are tons of interviews he's done that are now online that answer almost every question he could possibly be asked. And if the campaign would do what Obama's does, "This account is run by #Obama2012 campaign staff. Tweets from the President are signed -BO." then it wouldn't matter who was doing the tweets because it would be open and transparent that it's not actually Dr. Paul. People like openness online!

How long would they have to answer?

I think you and I just disagree on this, though, which is fine.

I'm glad he isn't doing it. You know it COULD be done well. I'm afraid it WOULDN'T be.

Yeah, that's sorta my fear as well.

This isn't even being hosted by twitter. The twitter townhall with obama was actually pretty well organized. This @140 townhall is already being trolled out. I'm glad Ron Paul passed. It's making the participants look desperately amature.

I'm new here, so forgive me for speaking out of turn, but I think Ron not doing this event is REALLY bad. The biggest issue with Ron right now is the outright media blackout, where they go out of their way to NOT mention RP, coupled with the distortion he gets from the media when they DO mention him. The only way to clear that up is by getting the good word out, ACCURATELY, in ANY medium possible. Any suggestion that Ron couldn't wrap up his answers in 140 characters is absurd. Either he should take each one of the planks in his platform and produce a 140 word answer that succinctly gets the point across (and really he should already have this in his back pocket, in case he needs it!) or he should have a YouTube video made in response to any predictable question and just send out a bitly link for it.
Personally I think YouTube videos of interviews, the debate answers, etc are the most compelling ammunition RP has (if only he wouldn't use the conjunction "but" quite so much between sentences!) so he could probably make a great showing by having a standard library of video responses to the normal "position" questions. He would rule this Twitter debate if he had that...
With Ron missing this debate, the other candidates could potentially gain some mindshare while RP gains nothing.
Just my $.02...

I could just imagine this. "Dr. Paul, do you support gay marriage?" "Well, I think that marriage should be out of hands the federal government. More awesome, more awesome...OUT OF CHARACTERS".
