Twitter Blacks Out "President Paul" Trending

Trends always change quickly....it's not a conspiracy or whatever...almost all of the other things that were trending have also disappeared as well, not just "President Paul" so it's definitely not a Twitter conspiracy

You don't know how Twitter works. Everybody ignore this BS.

All you are is a trouble maker on this forum. Yeah, I said it.

No. I know a ton about major Internet sites due to the conferences I attend and people I meet. There is no way that it goes from #1 as the story is gaining traction to falling off the chart after the whole list disappears for a few moments. Based on the events, this should have trended all night (assuming all the tweets were real in the first place).

I'm not a trouble maker, I'm someone that wants to see Ron Paul win. :)

What are you talking about? Lots of trending items quickly disappear...So all the other items that were trending that disappeared were also done so by Twitter as a conspiracy?

That makes lots of sense...

Some of the crap you do and some of the posts you make, makes me wonder.

And how does a bunch of RP supporters sending mass tweets to Dick Costolo gain us votes in SC, FL & NV?

If that's your strategy right now, you may want to step away from the computer, have a snack and watch a movie or something.

This seems an awful lot like how people get angry that youtube video views get stuck at 300 and stay there and everyone starts screaming bloody murder.

while I wouldn't past them, I think "trending" is a measure of the rate of change in popularity... if popularity went way up and stayed there the term should still fall off the list.

drop - Twitter trending censor - into Google - then read the first few pages of results...then decide for yourself....

They do this quite regularly with certain things. Believe what you wish. The reality is it will unfortunately) reduce the number of news stories if past cases are a guide.

AFAIK there's no historical example of stuff like this, it reminds me of when people use to say YOUTUBE BLACKING OUT PAUL, because their view counter isn't "live" and stays on 302 for a while .. it makes me laugh thinking somewhere in the youtube source code there's some anti-paul protection

PHP:
<?php if (in_array('Ron Paul 2012', $aVideoTags)) { $iViewCount == 302 } ?>

 So far I've read on this forum, youtube, google news, twitter are all blacking out ron paul because they're not shrines to him and may aggregate negative stories about him or, oh noes, hes not trending anymore.

We needa just relax, we got this far with a media blackout that was real.

It's amazing how much people get so fired up over a trending topic dropping on a site that only about 13% of Americans use, a large percentage of them being under 18 and/or more concerned about what Lady Gaga is tweeting than politics.

Newspaper use this list (rightly or wrongly) as a guide for "what's important". Not being on there all night likely will shorten the impact of Ron's 2nd place finish and excellent speech tonight.
