Certainly seems like they are trying.

I'm getting reports in the media that Turkey has shot down a jet which they say flew into their airspace. They claim to have warned the aircraft three times before shooting it down.

What would happen if this turns out to be a Russian jet ?

Edit: now says in other sources that this was a drone.

Believe it was a drone & Turkey leadership is as rotten as it gets.

(& Don't forget any main media source that falsely promoted Erdogan)

If i were Turkey i would rather worry about my home issues rather then trying restart the ottoman empire.

I think it was a drone. Turkey's leadership has got to be the dumbest on earth. Poking the Russian bear.

Russia's not going to go to war over a drone. And every country has a right to defend its own airspace.

Glad it was a drone. But say if it was a plane? In that case wouldn't it have been Russia starting WW 3 by violating Turkey's airspace?

Maybe.

Turkey’s determined and aggressive defense of its Syrian border comes as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and government officials press NATO and the European Union for a buffer zone inside Syria.

A staging ground for rebels can also serve as the foundation of a democratic Syria and safe haven for millions of Syrian refugees, whose westward push has triggered the worst migrant crisis since World War II, Turkey says.

But Turkey’s Western allies have broadly shunned Ankara’s push to establish a de facto buffer area backed by a no-fly zone inside Syria. Russia’s military operations to support the Syrian regime further complicate the Turkish effort, which is a cornerstone of Ankara’s strategy to topple embattled President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus.

Maybe Turkey will use the US nuclear weapons that it has at Incirlik Air Base. Or as this is close to Syria, maybe ISIS will somehow get those nukes...

After seeing this, I had to check what the Atomic Scientists organization had for the Doomsday Clock . . . 3 minutes to midnight, closest to midnight in over 30 years.

With both USA and Russia bombing away in un-coordinated efforts in Syria, . . . well something is bound to give way.

LOL. Got a load of these guys. They say they want a "safe haven" but what they really want is a military staging area. Yeah, everyone will honor a refuge camp that is used as a military base.
