Wow! I'm not from a caucus state, but even I know that a caucus isn't over in one hour and consists of a lot more than writing down the candidates name. Is this for real? or is it something Trump's people put out just to lull the competition into a false sense of security?

This would be 'accurate' if the caucus-goer has no intention of actively participating in the caucusing, only casting their ballot and ignoring the rest of the process. Seems par for the course for Trumpsters.

Trump doesn't need the delegates, he just needs to win the straw poll to maintain the "inevitable" story line. Hopefully he gets 2nd or 3rd since his GOTV seems pathetic.

They should have ended it with 'if you're a dumb ass, it's OK, as long as you support Trump in the caucus'.

They are trying to get the Trump supporters out to caucus. Not surprising that they make it sound easy and convenient.

So the voting part is nothing but a straw poll?
Then what is the caucusing part focused on? - just who will be who's delegate? and/or who will attend the RNConvention?

That's how it used to be. The straw poll was just that, a straw poll. It was mostly used to select the delegates at the precinct level. For example if Ron Paul got 20% of the vote in the precinct and the precinct had 10 delegates then 2 Ron Paul supports were supposed to become delegates. Of course, most people are too lazy to become delegates and Ron Paul got way more than his share because his supporters volunteered to be delegates.

This time around, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, the delegates are bound to vote proportionally to the straw poll results, at least on the first ballot at the RNC.

As far as I know, you are correct for Iowa this time around. I don't know if that rule is sweeping for all states though.

Secret ballot? When I lived in Maine it was a public precinct by precinct public vote...everyone could see how you were voting.

I think something like 27 states are proportional this time, including TX (20%). There is anywhere between 5-20% threshold to get delegates.

The straw poll was canceled this year, because it is meaningless or whatever. Trump's GOTV strategy is to get registered GOP to the precincts in the 2 largest counties, if the weather is good. That's it.

LOL, really speaking down to the audience. Sounds like a kindergarten teacher...

"If you can write T-R-U-M-P, you have just caucused for Donald Trump!"

Well actually, truth be known it was very helpful to me if I were in Iowa, and could caucus for Rand lol. I had no idea what the process of "caucus" was until I saw this video. Maybe Rand needs to come up with a similar video.
