Trump's full throated support of Lindsey Graham in 2026

If you think Trump being elected over Kamala wasn't good, then fair enough.

Trump is way better than Kamala for sure.

But shit like this, licking Lindsey Graham's nuts, is just retarded. There is no point. It's not like Lindsey Graham is gonna help push forward Trump's agenda. Ever. The only thing this does is weakens Trump's position, and strengthens Lindsey Gayham's.

And then talking shit about Massie just makes Trump look like a clown who's not actually trying to get done any of the things he claims to want done.

Graham is one of those politicians you look at and know that he doesn't even need Trump's endorsement in order to win reelection.

Which makes Trump's endorsement meaningless, unless he can get something from Graham in return for it.

Trump wants him to ram through his tax cuts so that they become permanent and won't expire.

Trump is using his power of influence in the Republican party.

He now has to either ram it through or he looks like an asshole and the MAGA republicans will storm the beaches of Normandy to make sure he loses his reelection.

Trump never gives away anything for free. He does you a favor and then you owe him one even if you didn't ask for the favor.

Why it matters: Senate leadership and Trump want to make the 2017 tax cuts permanent without having to account for how much it would add to the deficit. Now, they're saying all they need is for Budget Chair Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) to decide that's what they're going to do.

"The power resides in the chairman of the budget committee," said Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) after the lunch. "That's precedent."

Graham literally did this just recently when he backed Trump up after the Zelensky blow up at the White House. If you had that on your Bingo card, then you need to play the lottery.

You know what Graham hasn't done? Betray Trump. He has always stuck with him in his hour of need. The same cannot be said for Massie, Chip Roy, etc. Trump rewards loyalty, as he should.

The reality is that Trump has limited political capital. He shouldn't spend it on reshaping Congress, which will take a generation. He needs to use that political capital on fighting imminent dangers like the federal judiciary.

And before anyone spergs out, I hate Lindsey Graham. I've only ever donated to three politicians and Graham's 2008 Democrat opponent was one of those three. I'm just calling it like it is.

What is much more likely, is that Trump will be pushing forward Lindsey Graham's agenda.
Trump definitely has more power in the government than a Senator.

Trump had political ambitions well before the 80s and was friends with Richard Nixon.

LOL.

Lindsey Graham isn't gonna betray Trump, when Trump is doing Lindsey Graham's agenda. Which is basically what's happening. (See: CR)

Well, if you think Lindsey Graham is the real President, then I don't think we have much else to discuss here.

Well, if you look at the bills that actually passed, they're usually without exception 1) total shit, and 2) supported by Lindsey Graham

Trump wants to get rid of the IRS. Do you think Lindsey Graham is gonna vote in favor of that? Of course he isn't.

What is far more like to happen, is Trump is gonna pass some extremely shitty bill that has Lindsey Graham's approval, and Trump will spend the next 7 years bragging about how awesome it is.

Lindsey Graham is one of the RINO's we are trying and needing to get rid of. He's never gonna be useful politically or otherwise, so there's no point in entertaining that notion.

The people in my city could afford to buy groceries and have food in our fridge and got real raises that they didn't get for a decade under previous administrations during Trump's first term.

Yea but how much of that is thanks to Lindsey Graham

A significant amount of it was because of the tax cuts that he got passed through the Senate.

Large parts of my city were closed down my generation has a lost decade from before Trump's first administration.

I am very skeptical that had anything to do with it.

It was like a 1% tax cut at best.
No it was significant because before the tax cut my city was dead.

We had bought a newly built house and the developers stopped building and I lived next to empty lots for years.

Large areas of my city closed down and were becoming ghost towns.

After the tax cuts money started pouring into our country again. Money was repatriated.

Ya sure ok. It's totally cause of the tax cuts

Tax cuts and oil production and regulation cuts for the shale revolution and other trade deals that happened under Trump.

The tax cuts were definitely important though because all of the sudden small businesses started popping up everywhere where there used to be empty buildings from closed down failed businesses.

Small business create most the jobs in our country.

My state was pretty solid blue and swung red.
