Trump: We need a lot of people coming in

The only reason he said this was to trick Biden into opening the borders which would make Biden unpopular and allow Trump to win the 2024 election

Everyone relax.

Sword will be here shortly to tell us that Trump can do no wrong and we're all experiencing TDS.

Not that I deny that Trump is a habitual flip-flopper. But in this particular case, where is the flip-flop? That old quote doesn't say anything against increasing the number of H1B visas. He just said that he wanted to reform it so that it wasn't abused, which is what he is still saying.

EXACTLY.

It feels like the Deep State flipped some kind of "make MAGAs dumb"-switch and MAGA suddenly became retarded. Any form of fine-distinction is completely blown away and it's now "PROJECT 2025 OR YOU'RE A COMMIE BASTARD". The RINOs have been doing that old trick for over half a century; they do it because they aren't actually conservative, they have no values at all, they're just committed to holding power and the most effective way to do that is to allow America to be become a centrist trash-heap while they pretend to be "fighting for the right"... and never making progress because, if they actually won any battles, we wouldn't need "them" anymore, and they'd lose power. The only real purpose of their "political platform" is to keep themselves in power.

Fix H1B. Enforce the quotas. Stop allowing the Dems to turn immigration into their pet vote-farming scheme.

Shocker

I'm sure that there is a 5D explanation for this.

Ron Paul 2008 Supporter to others: "Ron Paul Cured my Apathy."

Trump 2024 Supporter to others: "I know things seem horrible, but there's a better than zero chance that if Trump gets in office again and does some of the things he says he's going to do-for real this time-that enough people might get hopeful enough to engage and make things slightly better. So I know you're all depressed, but victory is right around the corner! I mean, it could be. Hope is important though, seriously, if you just get sad and overthink stuff, you'll make others sad. We need to be positive and unite, and right now the best hope we have is Trump and Elon and RFK. Small wins count you know, even if they take a decade or two. Principles are great, but we also need wins. For that you need personalities with enough influence and brand equity to make a difference. For that, you need to at least appear hopeful, or no one will want to join our group."

Trump support is the opposite of hope. It is the movement of desperation.

Well, for the most part, nearly everyone in the Ron Paul movement has resigned themselves to a life of slavery, and now we're just trying to make the conditions of that slavery as comfortable as possible.

It is what it is.

Published June 22, 2020

In a sweeping order, which will be in place at least until the end of the year, Mr. Trump blocked visas for a wide variety of jobs, including those for computer programmers and other skilled workers who enter the country under the H-1B visa, as well as those for seasonal workers in the hospitality industry, students on work-study summer programs and au pairs who arrive under other auspices.

Officials said the ban on worker visas, combined with extending restrictions on the issuance of new green cards, would keep as many as 525,000 foreign workers out of the country for the rest of the year.

Stephen Miller, the White House aide and the architect of Mr. Trump’s immigration policy, has pushed for years to limit or eliminate the worker visas, arguing that they harm employment prospects for Americans.

And in recent months, Mr. Miller has argued that the economic distress caused by the virus has made it even more important to turn off the spigot.

Members of the Trump administration waged war behind the scenes against companies and foreign-born scientists and engineers.

After four years, telling the story helps explain how Trump appointees turned U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) into an organization opposed to the immigration of high-skilled foreign nationals on H-1B visas.

The bill contained the outline of the Trump administration’s action plan for H-1B visas.

An analysis determined its purpose was to end the ability of high-skilled foreign nationals to work in the United States.

In addition to restricting H-1B visas, administration officials pursued policies to make it less appealing to study in the United States.

The “Implementation of March 31, 2017 Memo, Rescission of the December 22, 2000 ‘Guidance memo on H-1B computer-related-positions’” instructed USCIS adjudicators, in practice, to deny H-1B petitions for many occupations

In October 2017, the new USCIS director, L. Francis Cissna, issued a memo that increased the denials of H-1B petitions for continuing employment, which are usually extensions for existing employees at the same company or an H-1B visa holder changing to a new employer.

On June 20, 2020, Trump used his authority under section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act to issue a proclamation suspending the entry of H-1B, L-1 and other temporary visa holders.

This followed a similar proclamation on April 20, 2020, that stopped the entry of nearly all categories of immigrants, including employment-based.

While Donald Trump often said he wanted “merit-based” immigration, the war waged against companies, international students and H-1B visa holders during his administration showed the president and his appointed team had little interest in admitting even the most highly skilled foreign nationals to America.

Ive never needed an explicitly foreign worker in my vast experience of running many different businesses. I have used citizens , and a few naturalized citizens and permanent residents. Plenty to go around if you pay market price and I always operated in an area of very low unemployment ( high competition for good people).

Permanent resident = foreign worker. Doesn't it?

I assume that those opposed to increasing H1B visas would also oppose green cards for the same reasons.

Not to me , bringing foreign temp workers in to fill jobs that can be filled already seems much different to me than people actually applying to live here permanently and be invested in a community , job , family etc. I might even support work visas if I thought they were really needed to do commerce but they are not . Only legitimate work permits could be agriculture but that is because Americans groomed youth to be lazy

The only work permit that I support are for those that have a demonstrated need of a very temporary nature.

And zero path to citizenship from it for them and certainly not their families.

To fully end it requires an act of congress. Trump took several actions during his administration to end the abuse of the H1B program. Trump has always talked about attracting highly skilled people and workers to this country.

But that was before he joined the PayPal Mafia.
