GOP insiders: Trump should pick Newt for vice president

Democrats view Marco Rubio as Donald Trump's strongest possible running mate.

GOP members of The POLITICO Caucus – a panel of activists, strategists and operatives in 10 key battleground states –
splintered this week when asked to suggest who Trump should select to share the ticket with him this fall.

Gaining the most support were former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (13 percent), Florida Sen. Marco Rubio (9 percent),
Ohio Gov. John Kasich (8 percent), former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (8 percent), Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst (7 percent) and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions (7 percent).

A plurality of Democratic and nonpartisan members see Rubio as Trump’s strongest running mate. Given a list of seven possible choices,
just over a third said Rubio would be Trump’s best possible pick — far more than any other individual potential candidate.

So, could a Trump/Rubio ticket win electoral college votes from states like Florida and Colorado over a Dim ticket of Hillary/ (????) in November ?

The biggest challenge so far seems to be finding someone who will agree to be his running mate, because it will be a career killer. Mary Fallin I think is up for it:

I vote for GROOT- he's the best looking of the bunch and certainly has the BEST words.

Rubio is going back to the Senate.

He has to file next week for their August Senate primary . . . and it is looking more likely the Rubot now will seek Senate reelection after all.

Marco Rubio is considering running for reelection

Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell urged Rubio to seek reelection (in May), noting that he had "ample time" before the state's June 24 filing deadline and its Senate primary election in August.

Indeed, on Wednesday, Rubio confirmed a Politico report that Florida Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera asked the senator to run in the wake of the Orlando attack. Lopez-Cantera is a top contender for the seat.

With the way Trump treated "little Marco" on the campaign trail, not likely he would want to work for (not necessarily with) Trump. Rice won't be interested in it either. Newt? Too independent for Trump to want him. Chris Christie seems to be the most likely at this point.

You kidding? TPTB would love to have that neocon scumbag replace Trump, were he to have a heart attack, or an unfortunate accident.

Of course. And no one would notice the difference at all, if they had black and white televisions so they can't see the orange anyway.

I'd think that if Trump tried that, then the GOP convention delegates would vote against the Trump VP pick and it would be a contested, multi-ballot VP nomination.

How so? Trump has been a lifelong Democrat and they are supporting him.

Word has it that she is flying to NY to meet with him this weekend. I'm also told she is on the RNC rules committee. Please mr. trump, take her! Get her the hell out of OK, and end her political career for us!

Trump would win in a landslide if he picked General Michael Flynn, who headed up the DIA, when the 2012 Memo was written. In an Al Jazeera interview with Gen. Flynn, he admitted that what the memo stated was correct and that the administration made a deliberate choice to support Islamic extremists in its twisted desire to oust Assad. But why isn't Trump spelling it out for the public? He linked to an article about it in a tweet, but he needs to spell it out, or get Rand to do it ;).

Rice is out. She went on record as not interested.

Who? I read about politics daily and had no idea who that was. Trump isn't going to pick a nobody.

You just know about this guy because he supports your pet conspiracy theory.

What a (mod edit) you are. And an (mod edit). Flynn was the head of the DIA when that memo was written. Do your homework (mod edit).

Jim Webb would not face any serious opposition at all, and I think Trump would like to tap him but he won't in the end because Webb is just too angry looking and wouldn't make for good TV. Trump will go with Scott Brown. Good looking, team player, meshes with Trump's brand, and will be a huge boon in terms of the female vote.

LOL at the idiots in the MSM thinking Little Marco would be a good running mate. Other than the fact Trump completely embarrassed and exposed him in the primary, why exactly would the guy whose main platform is securing the border tap the guy who worked with Chuck Schumer to try and ram Amnesty down our throats? It would be like Ron Paul picking Lindsay Graham as his running mate.
