No, the point is you're comparing apples to oranges, because going on a business meeting with a potential donor as a candidate, is neither more or less telling than going on a social event as a celebrity. Trump played the social game with media circles for celebrity networking purposes, and is now playing the political social game for political networking purposes. Celebrity networking is done for a variety of purposes, and is most often not indicative of political motives. They are two different animals, that reveal exactly nothing about the final political sincerity of the person networking. Another 'equal time' example:
