I am proud to announce that Dr. Susan Monarez is my Nominee to serve as the next Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Monarez brings decades of experience championing Innovation, Transparency, and strong Public Health Systems. She has a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin, and PostDoctoral training in Microbiology and Immunology at Stanford University School of Medicine.

As an incredible mother and dedicated public servant, Dr. Monarez understands the importance of protecting our children, our communities, and our future. Americans have lost confidence in the CDC due to political bias and disastrous mismanagement. Dr. Monarez will work closely with our GREAT Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert Kennedy Jr. Together, they will prioritize Accountability, High Standards, and Disease Prevention to finally address the Chronic Disease Epidemic and, MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN!

"Although I am extremely disappointed with Trump’s CDC pick, people are mistaking posts on this account (@CDCDirector) for Susan Monarez’s words.

This account was transferred to her from the last Director. So the posts you see regarding Covid are from Biden’s CDC director or under Trump’s first admin. She has been the acting director since January.

I hope that makes sense."

So she does support depopulation/genocide or was that the previous clown?

RFK Jr: "X posts that erroneously attribute Biden-era tweets supporting masks, lockdowns, vaccine mandates, etc. to my @CDCgov Director nominee, Susan Monarez, have understandably provoked agita within the MAHA movement. I handpicked Susan for this job because she is a longtime champion of MAHA values, and a caring, compassionate and brilliant microbiologist and a tech wizard who will reorient CDC toward public health and gold-standard science. I’m so grateful to President Trump for making this appointment."

Scary stuff. I always notice STANFORD which is a NSA/CIA breeding ground.

She is AI and Big Gov Data.

Monarez has spent nearly two decades in various roles across the government, in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Homeland Security and in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Among her HHS roles, Monarez served at the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, Health Resources and Services Administration – where she was founder of the HRSA Center of Innovation – and most recently as deputy director at Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).

At ARPA-H, Monarez developed and launched more than $2 billion in programs and projects targeting public health and care delivery challenges and led "agency data innovation strategy and data systems architecture design, including pioneering generative AI end-to-end enabled capabilities," according to her LinkedIn page.

She has led the development of AI and machine learning projects focused on several key challenges for public and population health, according to her CDC bio: affordability and accessibility, expanding access to behavioral and mental health interventions, tackling the opioid epidemic, addressing health disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality, and improving the country's organ donation and transplantation programs.

Monarez holds a Ph.D. but would be the "first nonphysician to lead the agency in more than 50 years," according to the New York Times.

Other population and public health leaders have applauded the nomination.

"She has a strong reputation as a solid researcher and expert in infectious diseases," Dr. Georges Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, told the Times. “She clearly understands public health and the role governmental public health plays. I believe the public health community can work with her in a positive manner.”

"Susan has a long, distinguished history as a data-driven, effective civil servant," Jennifer Nuzzo, professor of epidemiology and director of the Pandemic Center at Brown University School of Public Health, told CNN. “I am thrilled to hear she’ll be leading CDC."

Yikes! Trump's picks have been hit and miss with me (why would he pick Noem?), but this one is just... why? Her work emphasizes pandemic preparedness, which could mean more aggressive federal disease-control measures (travel restrictions, mandatory quarantines, etc.) - you know, all the stuff that the new administration is supposed to be against!

The CDC really should be disbanded, first of all. It's inefficient and complicit in coercion, a money sink.

They knew this about Trump the last term but they couldn’t wait to elect him again.

You have to remember, it’s just like Tariffs; when democrats do it, it’s satanic evil, but when Trump does it, it’s always for your own good.
Yep. One of the few good things President Obama did was pause gain of function research in 2014. It was restarted in 2017 under Trump. I know you already know this.

NIH Lifts Funding Pause on Gain-of-Function Research

Today, the National Institutes of Health announced that it is lifting a funding pause dating back to October 2014 on gain-of-function (GOF) experiments involving influenza, SARS, and MERS viruses. GOF research is important in helping us identify, understand, and develop strategies and effective countermeasures against rapidly evolving pathogens that pose a threat to public health. The funding pause was lifted in response to today’s release of the Department of Health and Human Services Framework for Guiding Funding Decisions about Proposed Research Involving Enhanced Potential Pandemic Pathogens (link is external)(HHS P3CO Framework). The HHS P3CO Framework describes a multi-disciplinary review process, involving the funding agency and a Department-level review group, that considers the scientific merits and potential benefits of the research, as well as the potential to create, transfer, or use an enhanced potential pandemic pathogen. This framework formalizes robust oversight for federally funded research with enhanced pathogens of pandemic potential. It is the product of an extensive deliberative process undertaken by experts throughout the public and private sectors, and is aligned with the Recommended Policy Guidance for Departmental Development of Review Mechanisms for Potential Pandemic Pathogen Care and Oversight (P3CO)(link is external).

We have a responsibility to ensure that research with infectious agents is conducted responsibly, and that we consider the potential biosafety and biosecurity risks associated with such research. I am confident that the thoughtful review process laid out by the HHS P3CO Framework will help to facilitate the safe, secure, and responsible conduct of this type of research in a manner that maximizes the benefits to public health.

I would especially like to acknowledge the efforts of the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine(link is external) for their thoughtful deliberations on the issues surrounding this important area of research. The work of these committees was instrumental in guiding the United States Government in its job of creating rigorous policy that allows vital research to move forward.
