President-elect Donald Trump announced on Tuesday night that he has nominated Jay Bhattacharya, MD, PhD, to serve as Director of the National Institutes of Health.

“Dr. Bhattacharya will work in cooperation with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to direct the Nation’s Medical Research, and to make important discoveries that will improve Health, and save lives,” Trump said in a statement.

Bhattacharya is a professor at the Stanford School of Medicine and focuses on health policy related to infectious diseases, COVID-19, and health economics.

Trump said Bhattacharya and RFK Jr. would “restore the NIH to a Gold Standard of Medical Research as they examine the underlying causes of, and solutions to, America’s biggest Health challenges, including our Crisis of Chronic Illness and Disease.”

The nomination of Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to be the director of the National Institutes of Health is the single greatest case of poetic justice in my lifetime.

Jay, who holds both an MD as well as a PhD in economics, is a professor at Stanford University.

During the COVID years he had to endure the slings and arrows of mental and moral midgets who were unfit to shine his shoes.

He correctly spoke out against the useless and evil lockdown policy as well as much of the rest of the madness.

Now that it's obvious that none of those things did any good, and simply destroyed millions of lives for no good reason, some people are trying to pretend they never supported any of it.

But we remember the truth, and how those people behaved toward decent people and brilliant scientists like Jay.

Jay was smeared by Francis Collins, who was director of the very institution Jay will now direct, as a "fringe epidemiologist" because he correctly insisted that lockdowns were no part of any pandemic policy ever proposed anywhere.

Collins has since admitted that his institution had major blind spots during COVID. But Jay wasn't blind. The mild-mannered Jay Bhattacharya, who never sought the spotlight but was forced into it by events, spoke the truth from day one, and for that he has the gratitude of all thinking people everywhere.

I also can't help thinking that Directors come and go, and wonder in 4 years the next prez inserts somebody else into that position. Trump seems to be clutching on to these departments in order to regain "trust in government" [per the WEF] rather than to eliminate them.

Makary considers himself pro-vaccine but has also criticized vaccination mandates for populations other than healthcare workers. Makary recommended a single-dose mRNA vaccine regimen for children 12-17 to minimize the occurrence of myocarditis as a reaction, contrary to the CDC's finding that the risks of infection "far outweigh" those of the two-dose vaccine schedule. In December 2021 he appeared on a podcast to argue against vaccine boosters, referring to himself as an "unboosted male" and saying that the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant was "nature's vaccine".

And yet I'm excited, and you're not.
I'm not excited because of what Trump is going to do. I mean there's some of that, because there's some incremental improvement queued up to happen.
I'm excited because this is basically Obama times a thousand.
We have ourselves a genuine political savior coming in.

And when he fails to deliver, the way Obama failed, he's going to fail a thousand times worse and people are going to be a thousand times more pissed about it.

Obama's failures are a big part of the reason why Trump got elected this time. Giant authoritarian government has clearly been rejected. Everyone is on the minarchism page right now.
You and I both know that what we have always had for our entire lives is minarchism. The problem isn't going away because the existence of the state is the problem. They might give the monster a haircut and it'll grow back as fast as hair.

Nobody admits this - but read the room. The sentiment isn't that we're going to make any real progress. It's that we're going to try to return things to where they were. And I think, PAF, you are the perfect person to realize that even when things were 'great' they still kinda sucked.

The reason why this is a win is because in the years to come more and more people are going to start asking fundamental questions like 'hey how come there's still inflation' and 'how come the medical industrial complex is still making us sick' and 'how come we're still in foreign wars'. The media that previously effectively convinced everyone to ignore this stuff is now officially a laughingstock. So they're going to keep asking and when the New Obama doesn't fix it, they're not going to be happy. Even if it is 'better' by then.

People aren't listening now. But they will be.

I think RFK JR should have been put over the FDA or EPA. I think a doctor should be over HHS such as Dr. Ben Carson or Dr. Joseph Lapado.
