Because when Obama was president he said that it was a cold war weapon we don’t use and there wasn't any SU-57 or J-20. So they said there was no need for a superiority fighter. China and Russia apparently paid attention.

I remember at the time congressman Ron Paul criticized Obama for choosing to dismantle the F-22 program in order to produce the F-35 instead but Obama said famously the cold war was over in the debates.

The F-22 is both cheaper and an objectively better fighter than the F-35. "Multi-role" is codespeak for design-by-committee. Sell that trash to the foreigners and produce F-22s.

The MIC hates air-superiority fighters because they are a fundamentally defensive strategic weapon. You don't invade foreign countries with air-superiority fighters (way too expensive)... you defend your own shores with them. And if you have a robust domestic defense based on air-superiority, nobody is getting in, no matter what invasion force they bring, because they won't be able to defend their invading aircraft against being shot down by your superior fighters; once shot down, they won't be able to defend their invasion fleet which will make them sitting ducks for defensive bombers. But that formula won't slop $2T+ per year to the war-pigs in the MIC so they prefer BS like "multi-role fighters".

For the same reason the USMC tweeted out rainbow bullets on its official channel for #PrIdEMoNtH ... globalist infiltration and organizational-capture by the Woke mafia. The F-22 is the best fighter we have ever built. The F-35, however, is definitely a boondoggle.

Canceling the f22 meant that they would do a joint strike fighter program where the money you spend on it goes to dozens of countries and congress didn't want to send money everywhere.

Nobody wants to get taxed and send that money to other countries and then they want other countries to buy it but they want to build their own domestic aircraft they don't want to get taxed and send that money to other countries even if the price is cheap now.

it's finally going to be deployed on a super carrier the JFK but for years they haven't had enough f-22 because everyone wants superiority. Australia wants F-22, Japan wants F-22, superiority is the only thing that deters war.

Bah, another multi trillion dollar cluster fuck.

Manned fighter aircraft will be obsolete by the time any of these see service.

The B52, with upgrades and maintenance, is due to have a 100 year service life, with existing airframes planned to fly missions into the 2050s.

Do the same thing with the F/A fleet.

Retool and build updated versions of the F14 and F18 for naval use and the F15 and F16 for AF use, for a fraction of the cost.

These were the pinnacle of manned, pilot controlled fighters, with modern avionics and weapons and engines, they would serve just fine to the end of the manned fighter era.

F-16s aren't a really a superiority fighter that can defeat other F-16s or 5th and 6th generation aircraft equivalent in a fight.

They could simply overwatch and you lose every time.

They don't want to bring knifes to a knife fight or knifes to a gun fight.

They want dirty tricks even if it is a knife fight they are going to throwing sand in their eyes.

Plus any potential adversaries could always defeat us with simple numbers if we had military parity.
