The stealth jet is accompanied by many, many drones according to 47, it is to be called F-47.

Wikipedia struggling to keep up with the info:

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: The F-47 will be the most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built.

An experimental version of the plane has secretly been flying for almost 5 years, and we're confident that it massively overpowers the capabilities of any other nation.

There's no other nation. We know every other plane. I've seen every one of them, and it's not even close. This is the next level, you know, level 5 is good. This is level 6, they say.

The F-47 is equipped with state of the art stealth technology. It's virtually unseeable, with unprecedented power. It's got the most power of any jet of its kind ever made.

Maneuverability, likewise is, there's never been anything like it despite the power and speed its speed is top over 2, which is something that you don't hear very often.

America's enemies will never see it coming. Hopefully, we won't have to use it for that purpose, but you have to have it. If it ever happens, they won't know what the hell hit them.

REALCLEARPOLITICS

NGAD isn't just another air superiority jet fighter like the F-22 Raptor. So the Wikipedia isn't correct. NGAD is an air dominance jet fighter like the F-22 Super raptor that it is supposed to replace. The difference between Superiority and Dominance in war fighting is bigger than the Gulf of America. So I could see why they could call this the F-47 it's different and it's a Trump card.

This dominance air fighter is the most superior ever it is better than anything its just incredible ask anyone

Air dominance goes beyond air superiority and supremacy in that it not only ensures that friendly aircraft can fly anywhere in enemy territory, but that they can also be effective at performing their mission.

You lobby for both Lockheed and Boeing?

You realize this crate is being developed by the same people who couldn't bring two astronauts home, right?

I know the salesmen have you screaming, shut up and take my money!! but since it's my money too, can't we wait until Consumer Reports tests it for reliability?

The prototype has been flying for 5 years against competing programs.

We run out of F-22s in a couple years they did a life extension program a few years ago but the air frames will have too many flight hours.

After that we just won't be able to control the air space anymore and eventually even our own air space.

How much is this fuck up gonna cost, a gazillion?

There's literally no enemies left.

Russia can't even beat Ukraine in a US proxy war.

China has 3rd world tech and they don't do anything other than make angry faces at Taiwan.

The Houthais or whatever they're called, a boy scout troop could whip their asses.

The war in Ukraine is a good example of not having air superiority.

That's actually one of the reasons why Russia can't defeat Ukraine quickly.

They don't have air superiority and Ukraine is able to contest the airspace.

It's also a good example of what it looks like when you can only contest your airspace and not control it.

Russia is able to bomb the hell out of Ukraine and inflict enormous costs on Ukraine. Some estimates say the repairs would cost well over 700 Billion.

The local air national guard's F-16s make me feel safe enough in my bed at night. It has been so long since there has been a major conflict that these fighter designers are designing materiél for theoretical wars.

The result? Boondoggles like aircraft even we can't afford to build even after the development work is paid for (F-22) and aircraft that can't do their jobs (F-35). Getting hamstrung by mission creep ruined the 35 before it had a chance, just like the F-111 and XB-70 decades earlier. The 22 was affected by the same sort of chutzpah which turned out projects like the XP-55 and the XP-79, which cost millions and accomplish nothing but the untimely demise of a test pilot.

How does this happen? Frustrated wannabe bullies look at fancy wazoo garbage and get stars in their eyes thinking of all the brown people they can kill, that's how.

Russias military capabilites have been greatly exaggerated but that's typical SOP fear mongering for our government to try and justify more stripping of our rights/freedoms in order to "make us safer".

Or to simply pour Billions more into the blackhole that is the Pentagon which is closing in on a yearly Trillion dollar budget despite failing every audit.

If I understand it right, we have to build this expensive boondoggle, because our last expensive boondoggle, was too expensive, and this expensive boondoggle, is even more of an expensive boondoggle, than our previous expensive boondoggle

Do I have that right

I'd actually be mostly fine with it if this new fighter jet was supposed to be purely a drone command and control platform. But trying to make it do everything - again - is just gonna guarantee its expensive boondoggleness

China is building over 100 5th generation J-20 fighter jets per year.

You can't just stop building fighter jets or in 10 years China will have 1000 more 5th generation fighter jets atleast and all of our f-22s will all be retired.

10 years is not a long time and you can't just turn on a faucet and produce 900 modern jets in a year.

F-22 wasn't a boondoggle, it's deployed in the middle east right now doing it's air superiority job.

It just retires in a few years and we need a replacement.

They actually looked at the cost of building more F-22, but it would cost a similar price as building the 6th generation.

Our allies in that region will be spending several hundred billion dollars with us because their high value assets are well defended.

Sure it is
They deployed it in the middle east because other platforms weren't surviving and really expensive assets kept getting destroyed.

It was a highly demanded asset, we have never exported the F-22 and nothing is more survivable it was highly requested especially after Russia had deployed their SU-57 to the middle east.
