Trump likens Carson's 'pathology' to that of a child molester

(CNN)Donald Trump said Thursday that Ben Carson's self-described "pathological temper" is incurable -- adding that it's like the sickness of a "child molester."

"It's in the book that he's got a pathological temper," Trump told "Erin Burnett OutFront," speaking about Carson's autobiography. "That's a big problem because you don't cure that ... as an example: child molesting. You don't cure these people. You don't cure a child molester. There's no cure for it. Pathological, there's no cure for that."

In his 1990 autobiography, "Gifted Hands," Carson attributes violent behavior in his youth to his "disease," a "pathological temper" that the Republican presidential hopeful said caused him to strike one friend with a rock and attempt to stab another. In subsequent accounts of his violent youth, Carson said he once attempted to attack his mother with a hammer.

"I'm not bringing up anything that's not in his book," Trump told Erin Burnett. "You know, when he says he went after his mother and wanted to hit her in the head with a hammer, that bothers me. I mean, that's pretty bad. When he says he's pathological -- and he says that in the book, I don't say that -- and again, I'm not saying anything, I'm not saying anything other than pathological is a very serious disease. And he said he's pathological, somebody said he has pathological disease."

Carson has used the story of overcoming his temper as the cornerstone of a remarkable life story, which took him up from poverty in Detroit to Yale, where he began on a track that would make him one of his generation's most respected and accomplished neurosurgeons.

"When he said he hit a friend of his in the face with a lock, with a pad lock, right in the face, I say, 'Whoa,' that's pretty bad," Trump said in the interview. "And when he said he stabbed somebody with a knife but it hit a belt buckle -- I know all about knives and belt buckles. Belt buckles aren't gonna stop because they can turn, they can twist ... they're not solid especially if somebody's got a couple extra pounds on them."

Asked by Burnett if he were satisfied by Carson's assurances that he left his anger long behind, Trump demurred.

"I just don't know," he said. "You'll have to ask him that question. Look, I hope he's fine because I think it would be a shame. What he's saying is these things happen. It'd be nice if he said none of these things did happen. He's saying these things happen and therefore I have credibility. And what I'm saying is, I'd rather have them if they didn't happen. I don't want somebody who hit somebody in the face with a padlock."

Carson's campaign on Thursday night responded sharply to Trump's comments, saying the real estate mogul was bitter and "rambling."

"Mr. Trump likes Dr. Carson, but Mr. Trump has resentment when he sees Dr. Carson rise," top aide Armstrong Williams told CNN. "He lashes out like he did tonight and resents Dr. Carson's continued rise and Dr. Carson (getting) the attention of the press and American people."

Later Thursday night, GOP presidential rival Carly Fiorina chimed in to "interrupt" Trump -- a reference to a complaint Trump made about her at Tuesday's Republican debate.

"Donald, sorry, I've got to interrupt again. You would know something about pathological," Fiorina said in a Facebook post. "How was that meeting with Putin? Or Wharton? Or your self funded campaign? Anyone can turn a multi-million dollar inheritance into more money, but all the money in the world won't make you as smart as Ben Carson."

Stay Classy Donald

He doubled down in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

I think he has gone too far.
"If you're a child molester -- a sick puppy -- a child molester, there's no cure for that," Trump said. "If you're a child molester, there's no cure. They can't stop you. Pathological? There's no cure."

And yet Carson is doing well in the polls, Trump said in disbelief.

"How stupid are the people of Iowa?" Trump said. "How stupid are the people of the country to believe this crap?"

Trump continues his middle school campaign. This is guy Tom Woods and Lew Rockwell love. Unreal....

Trump is working for Rand. When you think about it this way it actually makes things great. Nobody benefits from this stupidity more than Rand.

Secret double agent or just a pompous loudmouthed ass... lets use Occam's razor here ;).

Trump is starting to implode. As long as Carson doesn't fight back this kind of attack only hurts Trump. Simply put, there are a lot of people who had angry tempers at one time who now don't. In fact that's the point of Ben Carson putting those stories in his book. The way to attack Carson is on policy. His foreign policy is all over the map as shown in the last debate where he gave a thoroughly incoherent explanation of why he was against the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war but now seems willing to commit to fighting in Syria rather than letting the Russians handle it. Carson actually did (accidentally?) give an explanation when he talked about how he was getting some advice from some unnamed "generals." I bet that's true. He's surrounded himself with teocons (actually they swarmed around him like locusts) and he's getting all sorts of advice that actually doesn't fit who he is.

In case you did not notice he does not care at this point. Mission has been accomplished.

That mission being sucking the air out of Rand 2016? Hopefully Rand will soak up his supporters as he deflates.

I don't understand that. What is it they like about Trump? On what issue is Trump more ideologically similar to them than Rand? Heck even Ted Cruz is more close to them ideologically than Trump.

Not clear if his poll numbers are going up because of his attacks on Carson in recent days, did not expect this level of support for him.

Poll: Trump Surges to 42% Nationally

In the Reuters/Ipsos 5-day tracking poll that samples 534 Republicans, over the last week, Donald Trump has surged to a massive national lead in the GOP presidential primary. Currently, the billionaire businessman sits at 42% with likely Republican primary voters.

Won't be surprised if turned out that Trump paid or made some deal with SNL for them to make fun of Dr Ben Carson CEO's energetic temprament.

Trump has definitely crossed lines of political correctness.
What was earlier being said from pro Obama Left camp is now storyline of attack from Right (is Trump even Right?) with increasing chatter in news around Ben Carson's alleged mental illness.
