Trump fires commissioner of labor statistics after weaker-than-expected jobs figures slam markets
President Donald Trump on Friday fired the Bureau of Labor Statistics commissioner, hours after the agency reported that job growth in the U.S. had slowed to a near-halt.

In a Truth Social post that also directed even more fire at Fed Chair Jerome Powell, Trump accused BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer of being a political appointee who was manipulating jobs data.

“I was just informed that our Country’s “Jobs Numbers” are being produced by a Biden Appointee, Dr. Erika McEntarfer, the Commissioner of Labor Statistics, who faked the Jobs Numbers before the Election to try and boost Kamala’s [Harris’] chances of Victory,” Trump wrote.

“We need accurate Jobs Numbers. I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY. She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified,” he added.

Do you suppose anyone in the business community is going to believe his royal orangeness?

3 ... 2 ... 1 ... Cue Swordy

Are the skeletons in the closet real?

How do you know if the jobs report is real? Was it ever real?

I know what I feel and the economy seemed really hot last month atleast from the information I know.

These statistics have been rigged for decades.

They revved up illegal immigrants and h1b visa jobs while US citizens lost jobs to outsourcing and they patted themselves on the back and said good job.

All while subsidizing the invaders with government handouts.

Trump is reversing decades of government policy and is unrigging the economy that has been rigged against American citizens.

This was the same liar who created all the ghost jobs for Biden and Harris before the election, of course she's now lying in the opposite direction to hurt Trump.

She should have been fired day 1.

If an agency has the power to do something like that, why not get rid of the whole department?

Just for reference: When Erika McEntarfer was nominated by President Biden in July 2023, she was confirmed by the Senate with strong bipartisan support (an 86–8 vote). If I had my druthers, any person in an office confirmed by the Senate would require an impeachment and conviction to be removed from office.

Among those voting to confirm were Rand Paul and JD Vance.

I'm just the opposite.

I think it should be easier - much easier - for each administration to sweep the detritus of any previous ones off the decks.

I don't think it's a good or desirable thing to put higher hurdles in the path of "churning" (or eliminating) the perma-class of unelected and otherwise unaccountable bureaucrats who populate the executive plantation (especially one as vast as the one we are saddled with at present). And impeaching/removing elected politicians should be made much easier, too.

IOW: Reject modernity! Embrace tradition! Bring back the "honest graft" of the spoils system.

At least then, the corruption would be naked for all to see and judge (rather than concealed under and insulated by layers of "civil service" administrivia).

Why give the emperor any cloth with which to conceal his shame?

.

Personally, I say shitcan them all from the president all the way down to the lowliest custodians and interns. Scorched Earth!

But then, I’m one of those extremists you sometimes hear about.

That's ridiculous.

Her strong bipartisan support is an indictment, not a point in her favor.
And Advice and Consent should be done away with entirely (except for judges), what should be done is that judges should be able to be removed without an impeachment by the same Advice and Consent process.

Giving Congress a veto on nominees for the executive branch was a serious mistake that has empowered the deepstate, letting them prevent removal would be even worse.

Trump fires labor statistics boss hours after the release of weak jobs report
Without evidence, Trump called the data "rigged" and implied that BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer manipulated the numbers "for political purposes."

Trump fires statistics chief after soft jobs report

Erika McEntarfer had been employed as an economist for the Census Bureau from 2002-2008, the Treasury from 2008-2010, and the BLS since 2010. She was a a member of the nonpolitical White House Council of Economic Advisers since 2009.

She along with the rest of the BLS should have been fired, (or better yet never hired) a long time ago. The agency serves zero purpose other than acting as a bottomless money pit.

That being said, the timing is clearly political because they released numbers Trump didn't like.

And yet of course the BLS was deemed essential and receives all its funding amongst the massive cuts, because the BLS provides propaganda for the president, and all Trump did was affirm that its purpose is to manufacture approval.

At least it can't be argued anymore that any of Trump's statistics here forward are in any way truthful.

McEntarfer had been confirmed on 11JAN2024 by a massively bi-partizan vote (86-8 with 6 not voting). Among those backing her were Rand Paul and JD Vance.

None of numbers out of BL been accurate for years overall , during last admiistration in particular new jobs numbers were grossly overestimated to a point only number needed was number of govt jobs created , from it you could deduce it was majority of new jobs. Only one need to look at is work force participation rate ( too low) . Like our GDP avg of 2000 - 2024 of 1.9 and Jan CBO prediction of 1.8 for next decade , it and workforce participation are too low for govt to be spending trillions more over revenue collected

"If the data didn’t support something an administration official was saying, McEntarfer would say so, Glynn said. She also never weighed in on how the administration should present or interpret the data, Glynn said — she would simply answer questions about the data.

“She had a sterling reputation as someone who is concerned about the accuracy of the data and not someone who puts a political spin on her work,” Glynn said."

You'd have to be a real sword-swallower to work in the Trump Administration.
Notice how he refers to himself in the third-person, in quotes, like he owns the name as a trademark and its use, and in ALL CAPS
such as in 'THE UNITED STATES', the corporate D.C. entity that replaced our Constitutional Republic in 1871. Of course, he also knows his name is phony as he is, because his real name is Drumpf.

He wrote: “The Economy is BOOMING under ‘TRUMP’ despite a Fed that also plays games, this time with Interest Rates, where they lowered them twice, and substantially, just before the Presidential Election, I assume in the hopes of getting ‘Kamala’ elected – How did that work out?” Trump wrote. “Jerome ‘Too Late’ Powell should also be put ‘out to pasture.’”

Female statistics chief? The numbers couldn't have been right even if she wanted to
