The competition between GOP presidential candidates Donald Trump and Ted Cruz heated up Sunday, with Trump calling Cruz “a bit of a maniac.”

Appearing on “FOX News Sunday,” Trump said the Texas senator was not qualified to be president because he doesn’t have the right temperament and judgement to get things done.

“Look at the way he’s dealt with the Senate, where he goes in there like a — you know, frankly like a little bit of a maniac,” Trump said.

“You can’t walk into the Senate, and scream, and call people liars, and not be able to cajole and get along with people.”

Cruz has a reputation of being critical of his Republican colleagues in the Senate; in a speech this past summer, he said Republican leader Mitch McConnel was lying to the Senate.

In a new Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics poll, Cruz leads with 31% of GOP support in Iowa, and Trump follows behind with 10 points less.

Hmm, any Trump supporters want to comment on this? Apparently Trump, the king of yelling at people and calling them names, thinks that Cruz is a "bit of a maniac" for yelling at people and calling them names. Can someone find a clearer definition of the term irony? I'm anxious to see how this shapes things with the Breitbart and New Republic people, since they tend to like both these guys. Should be very interesting.

I hope they destroy each other. I get the impression that most Republicans don't know Cruz is Canada born, and Trump is the only one who can get away with playing that card.

Dean-Gephardt 2004 all over again! Love it! Duke it out suckers and then watch a dark horse come in! And no Rubio, you're not that guy! :p

should be good if trump goes after him during the debates

but I doubt that cruz will ever take the bait because hes not a real person in that sense and only is concerned with appearing a certain way

Anybody else see a pattern here? Carson got ahead of Trump and Trump questioned whether as a Seventh Day Adventist he qualified as an evangelical and then went after Carson for being "crazy." Cruz got ahead of Trump and today he questioned whether people form Cuba are evangelical and attacked Cruz for being "crazy."

With Trump kissing Giuliani in drag and acting like an imbecile how does he qualify as being an evangelical and why isn't he seen as "crazy?"

Trump is a devout Christian, he brought his bible to a press conference one time to prove it. It's his favorite book, after "The Art of the Deal"

If Cruz still thinks he can ass kiss his way into getting Trump supporters it's about to backfire. He's looking like a pussy right now by refusing to defend himself as Trump attacks him. What will be Cruz's response to this? "@realDonaldTrump is still terrific". Pussy.

Trump is about as evangelical as Sam Harris when the cameras aren't rolling. This is the same idiot that couldn't figure out what was going on during The Lord's Supper. Even though the PCUSA has largely devolved into a cesspool of sodomy, rationalism and socialism, they still teach that stuff to 1st year catechism students.

No.

If his supporters get tired of Cruz being such a pansy, they can always come over to Paul's team, he actually had the balls to stand up to the biggest douche in New York on several occasions.

I would say that, to some extent, Cruz brought this upon himself by criticizing Donald behind closed door meetings with his donors; while at the same time putting up a fake front to ally himself with Donald. The front's over, but Cruz refuses to believe it.

He did at first, then he changed his mind and said Canada Ted was legit. Hopefully he will flip back and go on the attack.

On Sunday, Trump suggested that Cruz’s tactics on Capitol Hill are devoid of the compromising skills needed to run the country.

“He goes in there … like a bit of a maniac,” Trump said.

“You never get things done that way. You can't walk into the Senate and scream and call people liars and not be able to cajole and get along with people. … That's the problem with Ted.”

Does this mean the trump is "cozying up to the establishment"? He seems to be defending Mitch McConnell here.

As long as Rand keeps hanging around, its probably good to see many of our opponents get their 15 minutes of fame before they descend in the polls for good before a single vote is cast.

Still need an upward swing from Rand though

Cruz maybe a bit unhinged but not nearly as much as the national/socialist Trump
