Trump Asks Rand to Join Task Force on Reopening Economy

Doubtful. While Rand and Trump see eye to eye on some very important things, Trump marches to his own drum beat a lot of the time (sometimes a good thing, sometimes not). The reality is that he is just inconsistent and unpredictable.

Trump had totally sold this country out. He's not really even president any more. Dr. Fauci accomplished what Senate Democrats could not.

No, incorrect, wrong.

A few points....

Should Rand keep good relations with Trump? Sure, yes, why not. Besides, Rand's base is also Trump's base.

Should Rand confuse access with actual power and compromise away principle for psuedo-influence with Trump? No.

Should Justin Amash go against Trump when Trump does bad things? Yes

Should Justin Amash actively rail against Trump and try to oppose him on everything all the time? No.

Should everyone act like Thomas Massie who has been the perfect example of keeping one's principles intact, maintaining good relations with Trump, and having good messaging? Yes.

I hope like hell you do not approach your cockpit management and aviation skill set improvement tasks with same mixture of hubris and arrogance as you do in voicing your political opinions.

That's a good way to get you and bunch of other folks killed, if you do.

This does not appear to be a "access without power" play to spread the responsibility in case things don't go as expected.

a big idea, a New World Order ~Poppy Bush

Very interesting, Mission Accomplished a big idea, a New World Order ~Poppy Bush. :redflag:. Fauci & FEMA are in the drivers seat now? :flashinglight:

Uh no, of course not. But then again there isn't anything really political about the engine start sequence or the minimums on the approach plate now is there?

Regarding politics though I do have the training and experience to know what works and what doesn't work.

That's a pretty dang good plan that you've got there. It'd be nice if they could cut spending and reduce the size of fedgov by about 3/4 for starters.
The resulting cut in subsidies to the States might likely trim them down too.

Basically, you'll have to give the fedgov less tax dollars, that they send a few of back to your state. So the money stays in the the State and boosts the economy there with no fedgov middleman taking a cut.. :check:

Who knows where our tax dollars go, once they get to the District of Criminals? :shrugging:

Agreed 💯 but at this point I think cutting spending is hopeless. They are going to hyperinflate the debt away so we need to focus on getting rid of mandates and building ourselves lifeboats to get off the USS Debt Dollar. If you notice all the things I proposed are free or “revenue neutral”

1. Make all Federal Licensing Recommended = Free
2. Legalize Competing Currencies & Commodity Credit Unions = Free
3. Suspend Income taxes on first $200,000 in exchange for increase in Chinese (or all) tariffs = Revenue Neutral (I want to cut but that won’t happen)
4. Prevent Corporations (People) from owning each other = Free
5. Restore bankruptcy protections for student loans = Free

Good list.

We must of course lift the "State of National Emergency" for the country that began the domino effect for states & locales to justify shutting 'non-essentials' down. States then will feel the pressure to start opening things back up, too. We gotta get America open for business, now. Obviously never should've happened by writ in the first place.

Throw a corporate tax suspension in there too - for at least the rest of 2020 - especially for those businesses deemed 'non-essential'. Either replace with tariffs as you recommend, or just allow the budget deficit to grow "temporarily". What's another trillion or so during an economic crisis, right?

I've heard grumblings of the lawyers beginning to lick their chops thinking that they're going to cash in by suing businesses that reopen causing people to get the illness by increased social interaction. That should not be allowed, period. Call it legal lawsuit gouging or something.

Agreed. A lot could be done to help with little to no cost and even if the deficit explodes that’s why we need competing currencies. Diversification of hard assets is key.

At least one of my ideas is getting play.

A quick search shows that dems are fighting this. LOL!

In April, in a nice publicity stunt, Donald promised us a “reopening task force”, which included corporate giants from amongst others Amazon, General Motors and Merck.
Tim Schlittner, a spokesperson for the US’s largest labour union AFL-CIO, explained “This was a sham, not a task force”.

In the half year since it was founded, the panel has met only once, by phone. Some executives didn’t even know they were part of this task force a few hours before receiving a request to join a phone conference with the White House.

President Donald has promised over and over and over again to reopen the economy…
The US economy is expected to shrink by 4.3% this year, according to the IMF. Some countries are actually expected to grow, including South Korea, Australia, Taiwan and China.
The US is taking on debt levels not seen since World War II. While Donald Trump in 2016 promised to clear the debt in 8 years, its federal debt has ballooned with another $5.6 trillion: https://www.nbcnews.com/business/ec...p-s-opening-america-again-task-force-n1244203
