I'm really starting to believe the establishment legitimately doesn't like him (was initially kind of unsure because he did have a history of being friendly w/ the Clintons and the establishment in general).

If this is legit then Trump might have to win the presidency in order to avoid the establishment winning and then crush his businesses and try to jail him. The angrier he gets, the more the establishment will fear and try to stop him. If they end up stealing either the primary or the general election from him and the public clearly recognizes it then the public will see the absolute fraud our political system currently is. That would be a wonderful thing because that's a very important step in waking the public up.

Lew just posted this.

Not only would it be tremendous fun, if Trump–with a near-majority of delegates–is blocked through RNC rules trickery–sort of what happened to BobTaft, for example, in 1952–it could mean the death of the GOP. I have long looked forward to that funeral. I do not look forward to all aspects of the social explosion that would also likely result.

You make good points. Anti-establishment mavericks Trent Lott, Bob Dole, Newt Gingrich, Chris Christie, and Rudy Giuliani have been supportive of Trump. And I can see why.

Donald Trump is the motherfucking Howard Roark of Presidential candidates. Trump's a builder, Roark is an architect. It just makes sense. His uncompromising principled vision is too much for the elites. The status quo is trying to tear him down and force him into conformity but Trump does not yield. Did you know he wants to audit the Fed? Can you believe he would dare to say that? He said it in a Tweet. The establishment is going to ruin him. But Trump wants to make America Great Again and WILL NOT GIVE IN.

Oh my goodness, the same cookie cutter message posted by another sock puppet with 9 posts and no interest whatsoever in Ron Paul.

Donald Trump has spent his whole career pumping money into the establishment and tying corporations and government closer together. He's establishment in a way Hillary Clinton can only aspire to be. Trump's lifetime achievements in propping up the establishment and furthering their goals makes Bill Kristol look like... well, Ron Paul.

That's not true at all undergroundrr. I am absolutely a Ron Paul fan. I was on DP/PL for like 5 years (which is why I rarely posted here). I tried "ACallToPaul.com" but it's buggy so I might give RPF another chance.

I'm not a fan of Trump (believes in torture, eminent domain, socialized medicine apparently, Snowden traitor, shut down the internet, etc) but I think it's possible he'll be a black swan to the establishment that helps bring this system down. Once the public realizes how corrupt our political system is, I'm assuming there's no unlearning that. We need the public to start the fall down the rabbit hole. Also it would be good if the politicians are seen as corrupt when the economy crashes because people will (hopefully) be less likely to blame capitalism and instead focus on what really is the issue - far too powerful government (which leads to politicians being able to be bought off) and the Fed.

Um no. That's never how it works. When things turn to shit, the populace will clamor for a tyrant to save them. Even if the first part of your premise were true, it would spell disaster for liberty. Rather than "blame the government", the majority will say it happened because the government wasn't powerful enough. They will hand over their liberties and wealth on a silver platter to any loudmouth who promises them salvation.

Those are "anti-establishment mavericks"? I think they're the ones trying to get themselves close to Trump to try to either get a position in his cabinet or to co-opt his campaign (possibly both).

Is this for real?

Trump will destroy the GOP this cycle to the point where in 2020, there will be 4 or 5 Mitt Romneys running and 2 Jeb Bush clones. Anyone who even mentions Mexicans will get their mic cut and they will go to commercial break for behavior modification.
