Our founding fathers stated that national defense was the primary function of our national government.

And how is a multi-trillion dollar industry plastering the American flag over war atrocities being committed all around the globe -- to the tune of MILLIONS of dead innocents ("non-combatants" in the disgustingly euphemistic language of the MIC) -- keeping us safe? There is no greater threat to the safety of Americans than the foreign military adventurism of BOTH political parties. They have no legal authority to use the US military as their own private, global knee-capping squad, with the scepter transitioning approximately once every 6 years or so.

The 1789 government was founded to be a night-watchman government. The alien occupying entity in DC circa 2025 has no recognizable connection -- whatsoever -- to the government founded in 1789. Like Ron Paul, I would happily support a night-watchman 1789 government that actually obeyed the Constitution that WTP imposed upon it.

And while we're on the topic of the Constitution, Congress does not have authority to keep a standing army in peacetime. Funding for the Army ceases two years after the end of declared war, just read the Constitution. Since WW2 officially ended with the Paris Treaty (signed 1947) the United States has been under de facto martial law since 1949, that is, the US Government has been unconstitutional since then, rendering itself legally null and void.
