Trevor Lyman in today's Miami Herald!

Liberty, sometimes we just have to PUT OUR NECK on the line and GO FOR IT.

We haven't gotten this far in the campaign by being TIMID.

NOW IS THE TIME... TODAY IS THE DAY... WE MUST DO MORE NOW, not later...

For goodness sake, our forefathers RISKED their LIVES, FORTUNES and SACRED HONOR for this country, and here we are today, worried about some idiot who might call us a "one hit wonder". Who gives a crap about what they SAY. What COUNTS is what we DO.

Nothing personal against you, I just want us to put forth the effort to do this today.

We're already got the $10 million, WE CANNOT STOP THERE - it is only 11:00 AM EST, and we've got a whole DAY ahead of us for this SUPER opportunity.

.

Hear Hear!

Let er rip' ladies and gentlemen - this is the big show.

Who the hell is timid, Wayne? I maxed out a long time ago.

And whilst I am all for putting one's neck on the line, it also is recommended to engage one's brain in your endeavor, lest your head be chopped off for nothing.

I'm just sick and tired of Trevor making unilateral decisions for grassroots activities and endangering our success by committing us to goals that he unilaterally sets. If everyone throws everything they've saved up for the tea party into this effort today, the Tea Party will be further derailed. So great, we end up with 2 lukewarm fundraising events. Just wonderful.

I really don't think so. It's possible that some in the media might point to the failure, but it's awfully hard to forget the $4.3 million raised just a few weeks ago. And it will be even harder for the media to keep talking about this 'failure' after we bring in an astounding amount on December 16th.
In fact, if some media talking heads to decide to talk about our 'failure' today, it will just bring up more conversation about Nov 5th, and more people will hear about Dr. Paul.

"Oh noes! He only raised $400k in 1 day, which is a lot less than the record-breaking $4.3 million he raised earlier in the month!!" :D

We think in real time. The media thinks in 24-hour news cycles. A few weeks ago is a lifetime ago. A few weeks away is mega-lifetimes away.

Who on Sept. 10th 2001 thought anything but normal life would be in operation a week later? We don't know what will happen between now and December 16th. God forbid another Sept. 11th type event, but if some major event like that would happen a day or two before (or even a lesser event that the media hyped as they often hype events), the Tea Party would be a very light blip on anyone's radar.

TODAY we have the media's attention. THIS is the day to have a huge fund-raiser.

Nov. 5th obtained the media's attention. The public at large and the media did not know about Nov. 5th (or much about Ron Paul) ahead of time.

Now, especially with the USA Today article and Trevor's appearances this week, their eyes are on us and a major failure to reach the goal WOULD be noticed and WOULD be trumpeted about.

The real news the campaign should spin if we don't hit the $12M is that RP raised more in two months than any GOP candidate did in the the three months of last quarter. That's pretty amazing, and the 16 th should guarantee the best 4th quarter for any GOP candidate.

However, let's keep going and hit $12 MILLION!

The goal wasn't to reach 10 million for the quarter. Trevor took it upon himself to say the goal was 2.5 million in donations for the day. That is far from a done deal.

Liberty,

I had the same concerns you have but many people appear to have supported the mark- $12 million:

While I do not agree with the approach, there is really a whole lot we can't do about it now except donate and spread the publicity as much as we can today.

And if something happens (God forbid), we will have to deal with it then.

I am hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

It is still early so let's see where it will go.

And if heads need to come off later, we will deal with it then (j.k.) :p

to be honest $10,258,019 is the amount to beat.

then the official RP campaign can announce that RP raised more in 2 months time then all other GOP candidates did in a full quarter. that alone will be a great step. so there will be positive news already, nomatter how much or how few will be raised.

always focus on the positive sides of the efforts people. the whole movement is an amazing event already. it is a peacefull R3VOLution and all of the people here may be proud to be part of it! all of you americans can look in the mirror and say: i stood up!

He we go, the Herald is going to play this as a failure if we dont raise 2.5 million by midnight.

I hope this doesnt backfire, and ruin the Dec 16th date for media exposure.

I second this, also annoyed that I gave Trevor 3 choices for reputable hosting (of people who can be verified from long time posters on this forum) who could have had the sites moved/fixed in about 20minutes, sites had issues for days, I have no idea what is going through his head. Maybe just too busy with press? ..the site is KIND OF a high priority though, NO?

Oh well!

They don't need to spin anything. The campaign was clear that that was what they wanted. Whoever came up with $2.5 million is an idiot, as is the people that advertised it to the media. The big money is on December 16th.

ok i don't know the details of what went on with the site, but maybe it wasn't a hosting issue, maybe it was something that would have happened anyway, but EITHER way trevor is super super busy, hes volunteered his personal time to do these websites, including ours and I NEVER see the guy without his laptop, working on websites..... Trevor is doing every thing he can :)
