I've been out of school for 32 years and I still remember how difficult it was to ignore, and how plainly obvious the whole scam was. This was in a "great" school district.
If I had been compelled to deal with this sort of shit... well, my parents were thankfully smart enough to realize when something with me was simply never gonna work, so they probably would have "rewarded" me with private school...

But I have to repeat that I vividly remember having a conversation about Columbine with a bunch of other 25 year olds in late 1999 and the consensus was "you know, it never occurred to us to do something like that... and the fact that it never occurred to us is definitely the only reason it never happened before now".

Given how clown world the whole thing has gotten, I think the frequency of occurrence is drastically low.
