TrackingPoint Sniping system for everyone

The only problem I see is that if the other guy didn't have the system and squeezed the trigger instead of activating the tracker you could be in trouble.

Interesting though.

I don't get it. You have to have the sights aligned properly when you push the track button. If you can align the sights to track why can't you align the sights to fire?

it looks like you tag your target, hold the trigger down, and when you're lined up again it'll take the shot for you to make sure you don't miss.

It looks like it has and built in range finder and self adjusting recticle for the particular caliber you are using and performs this calculation when you tag the target. Assuming you can adjust it for the caliber you are using and possibly adjustable so you could fine tune it for your particular load and bullet weight etc. this thing would still have to be able to adjust for wind conditions and I don't hear anything about its ability to adjust for wind so it would only be useful in only the most calm wind conditions. Of course if you really want to get technical, it would also have to be able to adjust for the firing angle, (whether you are shooting down in a valley/down from a tall building or up a mountain/up on a tall building, all of which also effects a precise shot calculation.

Also, I don't like that it takes the shot for you, a change in color indicator when you line up the dots would be better or at least offered as an optional setting.

Ah so. So it automatically adjusts elevation for external ballistics. Interesting, but not the biggest challenge in long range shooting and certainly NOT going to turn a noob into a sniper at one sitting.

Oy... just another means of avoiding the "chore" of developing your own skills in marksmanship. What about crosswind conditions? Does it read those as well?

This smells like an expensive toy that will serve nothing much more than to encourage the kinds of dickheads I knew in places like NYC who thought they were macho men for trying to take deer at 500 yards. This will further enable imbeciles to be what they are. No thanks. I prefer to put lead on target the old fashioned way. It takes more care and practice, but at least the shot is yours.

Side note: I wonder how long it will be before talk fires up on banning this technology? I am tempted to bet that it will not be long.

I commend this company's effort and especially their willingness to sell this to "mundanes." Few things piss me off more than companies who refuse to sell military-type products to private citizens even when the law doesn't forbid it. (In fact, I think any company that does that should be boycotted, no matter how good their other products may be.)

Still, I share the reservations of others about this gadget. For the kind of money this thing will probably cost, one would probably be a lot better off buying a thermal rifle scope from ATN:
