STOP FREE TRADE AGENDA is a major new action project of The John Birch Society with the purpose of preserving our personal freedoms and national independence by stopping congressional approval of any new multilateral free trade agreements such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). A vote to approve the TPP agreement is expected in late 2013; a vote on the TTIP agreement is expected in 2015. Without really knowing what it is all about, I feel comfortable in saying, it is a horrible plan. Anytime corporations start colluding with governments it restricts risk and creates barriers to entry. Not to mention it seems to limit who can be traded with, which shrinks an economy. Manipulations distort the market creating a Frankenstein economy.

Thanks for the link NC, I see you have already started a thread on this. Even if I read the actual agreement, the lawyer speak would make my eyes glaze over. That leaves me with relying on other people's interpretation or I can rely on Free Market principles to guide me. I find Free Market Principles to be reliable. Was my assessment in my previous post correct?

A good but minor example of how this will work is the AIRLINE PASSENGERS BILL OF RIGHTS. What did it do? Those 5-6 hours sitting on the tarmac, no facilities, water, missed meetings, etc... It gave crumbs as restitution to the passengers inflicted, protected the airline from class-action lawsuits, but gave the government the big fine/penalties to pocket instead of the passenger who suffered.

Of course those fines and penalties paid to the government are just written-off or passed along to customers in higher ticket costs/fees/surcharges.

Just like Ron Paul exposed, e.g. government EPA arbitrarily eliminating litigation between defendants and plaintiffs ... it's Washington DC corporatist protectionism... and the citizens, even the state level that are screwed.

I hope everyone see this horrible trend of the bribed and Fascist US government selling out the people for the rewards from; special interest, crony corporatism, TPTB/Money Masters, and campaign cash-reelections.
