Top Cryptocurrency People You Should Absolutely Follow on Twitter

DECEMBER 28, 2014 / BOBBY ONG / 10 COMMENTS

Twitter is a fantastic place to network with people involved with cryptocurrencies. We personally found it very useful in connecting with cryptocurrency people and in finding out the latest breaking news. To help others discover the power of Twitter, we have compiled a list of top people involved with cryptocurrencies that you should absolutely follow.

This list is meant to be a live document and will be continuously updated based on suggestions. Our aim is for it to be the most comprehensive list. There are currently over 150 people listed on this list broken down into several categories such as entrepreneurs, investors, journalists, developers, lawyers and altcoin team leads. If you think we have missed out any particular person, do write it at the comments section below or drop us a tweet @coingecko.

If you find this post useful, do follow us on Twitter – Bobby Ong (@bobbyong) and TM Lee (@tmlee). Do also check out our main website, CoinGecko and see how we evaluate cryptocurrencies by looking at various factors such as developer activity, community strength, trading volume, market capitalization and public interest. Drop us an email and let us know your thoughts. We would love to hear from you!

If you don't have a twitter account I highly suggest getting one. I thought twitter was for little brats but it's really a great way to consume all news on any subject. I only follow people that post news or charts.

I've had a twitter account for quite some time but have never known how to get updates from the people I follow. I've even sent out some tweets myself but have no idea if anyone ever read them! Any advice on how to make best use of the platform would be appreciated. For instance, how does one find the accounts of the people you have in the list?

Why is Bitcoin more valuable than any other one of the 100 crypto currencies other than it was first?

I've been asking this question for years now and not a single person can give me a straight answer.

If there's truly no difference between Bitcoin and Litecoin other than the fact Bitcoin was first then why does it hold so much more value over the others?

It's a bit painstaking, but just click on each link above with the @ symbol in front and then just follow. You'll have to do it one at a time.

The large community working together is the answer. Litecoin will carry value because traders will still accumulate, but a global economy with a balanced ecosystem isn't something you just replicate overnight. It took 6 years for Bitcoin to get to where it is at. The only way it can survive is if it evolves naturally without force, which is what happened with Bitcoin.

As such the security of Bitcoin is trusted far more than the other forked copies.

That's really not saying much considering how unsecure bitcoin's exchanges have been - namely Mt. Gox.

I would also point out Bitcoin's growth was largely over a 6month period and not 6 years.

Again, there's no good answer to the question other than it was first but the point i've been trying to make for 2 years now is that does not give it an intrinsic value over any of the others. All it will take is a more secure, well organized, crypto to make it worthless overnight.

It is not a store of value.

That's like saying gold can't be trusted because a gold vault can be robbed.

Bitcoin's growth didn't start because NoOneButPaul started taking notice of it 6 months ago. A logarithmic scale can't exist if you don't having a starting point. Tell what you said to someone who has been around the block (no pun intended) since the beginning.

Also...
In 2012 Venture Capital investment was $2m
In 2013 VC investment was $50m
In 2014 VC investment was $400m

Again, there's no good answer to the question other than it was first but the point i've been trying to make for 2 years now is that does not give it an intrinsic value over any of the others.

You are biased if you don't recognize the flaws in intrinsic value when the topic of transportation is mentioned and why Bitcoin's utility value has such a great advantage in this realm.

All it will take is a more secure, well organized, crypto to make it worthless overnight.

Why would something "worthless" in your mind replace something else still "worthless" to you?

Bitcoin is secure. Hackers have been trying to crack it for 6 years and can't due to the structure of decentralized consensus.

If you actually cared to go out there and educate yourself on Bitcoin, you would. But clearly, all the millionaires & billionaires raising venture capital to build around the infrastructure have no idea what they are doing. You better go help them see the light.

It is not a store of value.

Didn't gold drop from $2K? How can metals be trusted as a store of value when JPMorgan & Sachs naked short more metals than what exists in the world whenever they feel like it?

Free markets are supposed to be volatile when up against manipulated central bank fiat. US Dollar "stability" is paid for with the blood of foreigners and other Government shenanigans.

Because there are established fiat channels into and out of Bitcoin. Even if a worthy competitor came along, you would still need Bitcoin to buy it.

Also, Bitcoin has the highest hashrate of any cryptocurrency mining network, therefore the most secure blockchain.
