Tom Woods Slams Jesse Benton

I liked him a lot in the beginning of the campaign. Things seemed to be going smoothly. When he was on TV he was very well spoken. Now I see why he was hated so much in 2008. This guy really sucks and I hope Ron Paul will fire him. He is sending mixed messages and it's very disheartening. :(

My thoughts exactly.

I called for the firing of Benton long time ago.

The campaign never once, never freaking once FIRED back at the media or the talk radio show hosts who lied and smeared Paul that started in Iowa once we took the top spot in the polls. I remember it so clearly. It was downhill from there. I wonder whose plan it was to completely ignore 60% of the Republican primary voters? i.e. the old folks who tend to be more religious. Who's plan was it to give the same speech over and over again on college campuses? Where were the attack ads against the policing the world candidates that are going to cause grandma to forfeit her SS and Medicare because we are going bankrupt? Ron did give a few great speeches. One was right after the NH primary. He was on freaking fire. Should have kept that speech uh?

What is done is done but please don't give Benton any credit for what the grassroots has done at state conventions.

States won by Benton? Zero! He let Iowa get away from us in the last week.

Maine Convention was Official Campaign. Eric Brakey was State Director.

Doubtful that Benton deserves credit for the convention victories, additional votes certainly and decisions on advertising style sure, but the conventions are being won by grassroots organization, often without any assistance from the campaign.

AND, they can continue winning conventions without any more help from the campaign..

The campaign is shifting its focus TO the conventions, AWAY from the primaries.

Maine was Official Campaign. They appointed a campaign staff before the caucus, and Eric Brakey stayed through the Convention.

The official campaign should at least be working with the "grassroots state director".

If the official campaign isn't doing that, people here can be working to get the states organized.

Campaign dissent has been systematically stifled and routed out since 2008. My only suggestion is that if there is an epic failure... start ignoring the grass roots status quo. Like Ron Paul says... if they were wrong, why would you listen to them?

blogged about a mild criticism and had his head ripped off.... that about sums it up.

I respect Tom Woods and agree with him on just about everything. But I'm not crazy about his repeated implications that he could have been the savior of the campaign but was turned down for involvement. I'm an anarchist myself, but sorry to say, Woods, who has clearly identified himself as an anarchist, would not be an asset to the campaign for the hearts and minds of conservative Republican primary voters.

I'll tell ya what I think here... I think Jesse Benton should get the boot after what he did. It clearly seems that he's purposly attempting to discourage grassroot efforts here. I said when I read that email...it didn't make sense and it was nuts. How do we know he hasn't sold out, not to mention what Ben Swann said in his FB email that Jesse used AP for his delegate count... I don't know...I smelled something rotten from the start with all that too.

yep it's official benton fking sucks

And to think how I've been advocating this since 2007 and have been berated and chastised about it. Alot of people owe me apologies and you were right walt's.

Good time to change gears and turn up the heat with a new campaign manager.

Should RP channel some of this kind of anger? (hey it got Hitler elected, didn't it?)

goto 2:16 in this video for a dose of anti-Mitt venom. (or is that snake anti-venom?)

Benton in the last 5 years
"1. he conceded to the romney folks that it was a-okay for them to work with the RNC for fundraising events etc and the victory campaign (in clear violation of rule 11 of the RNC rules).

2. He talked bad about ron paul supporters after the AZ and OK state conventions, basically chastising us and saying we need to be more respectful etc (when we were the ones that were disenfranchised there and some people even were physically attacked by romney supporters).

3. His memo is making ron paul supporters think there is no chance to win, and that the main goal of the campaign now is to simply change the party platform (which doesnt mean shit)."

5 years... these first 3 were only the last 5 days...

It's clear to me something happened that caused the campaign to change their tune very quickly.

Benton is still a piece of garbage, but there's more going on here... something was offered or someone was threatened.

Campaigns are always in spin mode right until the very end. Huntsman back in January sent out an e-mail with the subject line "Our Momentum is Growing" about eight hours before dropping out.

First, how did the official campaign do at converting the GOP stalwarts to our side? Poor, at best. TW could have done as well.

Second, how much better could a well-spoken, principled, true-to-his-ideals TW have done at growing the movement from the outside? There was a ton of room to improve here, too, and TW could have done it well.
