Tom Woods along with Iowa GOP announces: FREEDOM ON TOUR

I think this is the Iowa GOP not Ron, per se. I don't think Ron's project is quite up and running yet. I can tweet whomever is managing his account and see if they will tweet it, though.

You're absolutely right. All the ad revenue alone more than covers the site maintenance, this is just his yearly bonus. That said, we did have it in the "last 10 mins" pack for a short time yesterday, then an hour later it vanishes to the shadows. A few years back, I never would've thought Nystrom to be the opportunist that he's become instead of the Patriot that I had originally pegged him for.

I don't see it that way. He does have his fundraiser going on now, and I hadn't thought of that. I think he'd want to spread the message, though, but right now might be a time he'd prefer not to have a competing moneybomb on his site. But this may not just be a great a thing to him as it is to some of us, so he may just be letting it float with user upvotes and down votes. It is his site.

I get it that it's his site but it's miles away from what it was billed as in its heyday. I've seen a growing trend to back away from proven activism and fundraising for grassroots endeavors since they went full blown LP-Johnson and souring over Rand and the restore the GOP approach that Ron has championed.

Back to the topic at hand, I'd like for Steve B to be more of an ambassador to the grassroots on this, since he's involved, and let us know how the promotions will be going and when this is going to happen. Once we get to see how successful this first summit is I'm sure more excitement will grow. I'd also like there to be a live stream and a full recap of how the event went in terms of the reception and future mobilization of attendees.

Wow over 3000. Amazing. This is awesome all. FSP to answer some of your points. I would love for Ron's and rands organizations to promote this. We are reaching out and want any and all help we can get. Overall though the decision on how much they wish to be involved with the Iowa GOP or Tom Woods is their call.

Regarding a live stream. I'm all for it. Though that may be down the line. keep in mind to do properly, not lagging or choppy, is expensive. Even to do it cheaply does have a cost associated. I'd like to promote far and wide. Using our email, mail pieces, alerting county chairs, and more

Thank you to everyone who has given so far. About 40 percent.

I can't say that I'm very excited about Rand Paul's 2016 run, though I'll watch it with interest. However, I am very excited about Woods and his efforts to promote liberty in Iowa. I'm a little disappointed by the somewhat slow funding of this. I would have thought that the folks pushing Rand all the time would know that this is the beginning of 2016 efforts in Iowa, and they would donate appropriately. Are Rand supporters all talk?

I would imagine that many of us here did donate but the main attraction on this forum appears to be the general politics section, not the activism sub-forums. Plus, there didn't appear to be that much of promotion going on for this besides here, the vid posted on youtube and a small thread that barely saw the light of day over at DP. Tom is Ron's guy not Rand's and while this can be billed as Rand building his base in IA, it really is to promote the ideas of liberty in IA and some would say that Rand doesn't promote those ideals. I haven't seen much interest in this from the educational activists which is kind of puzzling. Perhaps, the successful conclusion to this summit and future ones can be seen as a benefit to Rand so the usual suspects would boycott for that alone. 3800 have viewed the video and a fraction donated so I guess there's not much interest in this educational opportunity. I thought people would be clamoring to fill this one up and move on to the next one especially after seeing how successful one of these could be. A ustream could be set up by one of the attendees and people could have something to view of a live liberty venue on a weekend. Ron needs to get involved (make a FB and twitter post) and gear his dormant supporters up to do something.

I do think the arguments about how this was for Rand in the beginning of this thread may have coincided with the slow down of donations. I tried to start a new thread without that baggage but torchbearer then bumped this one, so it is on top.

I think all should want Tom Woods speaking to folks across the country, to be honest, and should want a State GOP doing this as an official event to be very successful so others follow suit.

At least, that is why I donated.

Reminded me of this awesome "bus" video from early in the Obama presidency. Love it when the bus runs over the constitution!!

I think we should request a remake with Boehner running over Amash, Rand and other constitutional conservatives. Of course it wouldnt be PC and probably not actually very beneficial but it would be very funny.

People are more interested in posting tens of pages arguing over Ron's tweets/domain names, or in attacking Rand for voting Aye, Nay, or Abstain on each bill, than in actually promoting or funding actual liberty, judging by the post count. :)
