I think this is the Iowa GOP not Ron, per se. I don't think Ron's project is quite up and running yet. I can tweet whomever is managing his account and see if they will tweet it, though.
You're absolutely right. All the ad revenue alone more than covers the site maintenance, this is just his yearly bonus. That said, we did have it in the "last 10 mins" pack for a short time yesterday, then an hour later it vanishes to the shadows. A few years back, I never would've thought Nystrom to be the opportunist that he's become instead of the Patriot that I had originally pegged him for.
I get it that it's his site but it's miles away from what it was billed as in its heyday. I've seen a growing trend to back away from proven activism and fundraising for grassroots endeavors since they went full blown LP-Johnson and souring over Rand and the restore the GOP approach that Ron has championed.I don't see it that way. He does have his fundraiser going on now, and I hadn't thought of that. I think he'd want to spread the message, though, but right now might be a time he'd prefer not to have a competing moneybomb on his site. But this may not just be a great a thing to him as it is to some of us, so he may just be letting it float with user upvotes and down votes. It is his site.
Woohoo!! I just put us over 3000!
I would imagine that many of us here did donate but the main attraction on this forum appears to be the general politics section, not the activism sub-forums. Plus, there didn't appear to be that much of promotion going on for this besides here, the vid posted on youtube and a small thread that barely saw the light of day over at DP. Tom is Ron's guy not Rand's and while this can be billed as Rand building his base in IA, it really is to promote the ideas of liberty in IA and some would say that Rand doesn't promote those ideals. I haven't seen much interest in this from the educational activists which is kind of puzzling. Perhaps, the successful conclusion to this summit and future ones can be seen as a benefit to Rand so the usual suspects would boycott for that alone. 3800 have viewed the video and a fraction donated so I guess there's not much interest in this educational opportunity. I thought people would be clamoring to fill this one up and move on to the next one especially after seeing how successful one of these could be. A ustream could be set up by one of the attendees and people could have something to view of a live liberty venue on a weekend. Ron needs to get involved (make a FB and twitter post) and gear his dormant supporters up to do something. Are Rand supporters all talk?
