My kids helped out with this one too. I wasn't going to donate but decided to squeeze out $30. Money has been tight this month. Last month I did 100 and was feeling bad that there wasn't much for this month's bomb. Anyways, 15yo asked if I was donating - if so, he would pitch in an extra $5. Then, 9yo said he'd give $1. 13yo is really tight with his money but said he'd give all the 1's in his wallet. Ended up being $4. So total of $10 from them. I decided to add $10 to match their $10. So we gave $50 total. We joked that they would pay 1000's x these amounts if nothing is done about the mess we are in. We'll just eat more beans and rice til the next pay check.
My 9yo just came up to me and said he felt really good donating to save the constitution. He realizes the mess we are in. I reminded him that it would be the first of many sacrifices he'll have to make to keep this country's liberties. He knows that even if RP doesn't win, it's never a loss to defend freedom. It's amazing how much kids can understand when they are educated about what is really going on.
