To Senator Rand Paul .

I write to you today about the crisis in Syria because I believe you are one of the few honorable statesmen that truly represent the will of the American people.

Our President , Secretary of defense and most of our government seems very eager in waging war against Assad and the country of Syria against the will of the majority of the American people.

We are told by our president “we must act, We must punish Assad for the use of chemical weapons”

Then why don’t we do just that?

If in fact Assad did use chemical weapons why is waging war the only option being discussed?

There is another option other than allying with an American enemy such as al qaeda.

If Assad did in fact use chemical weapons , then thru the UN with those countries who are part of the chemical weapons treaty take a vote to declare him an international criminal. Charge him and call for his personal surrender to the UN and face charges for crimes against humanity. If a majority of countries are so against the use of chemical weapons the the overwhelming international political pressure could bring him to justice without any type of war.

Why are none of our representatives even offering this as an option?

Why must we go to war to punish one evil dictator?

Senator Paul , You have a huge opportunity right now. You could lead the charge with this option and avoid more innocent loss of life.
Avoid American involvement in yet another WAR

Avoid putting our brave men and women at risk.

Avoid many unseen possibilities of war spreading throughout other countries related to our actions in Syria.

Avoid more debt from a war we cannot afford.

Sincerely,
We The People

Comment if you agree.
If you agree , how can we get rand to see this for real?

How many american soldiers are you willing to lose overthrowing assad? This option seems infinitely worse than what obama is proposing. The last thing we need is a ground war in syria. The author seems to think it would be a trivial task to capture assad. Remember it to months and hundreds thousands of casualties before we got sadam....and what did that accomplish?

Why can’t we capture Assad , Charge him with crimes against humanity in international court and punish him accordingly.

yes this is exactly what thomas jefferson had in mind.

in fact, the founding fathers wrote in the federalist papers that when we don't like what other heads of state do we should kidnap them and try them before a jury of despots and dictators.

thank you for your contribution to the cause of liberty.

when george washington warned about foreign entanglements i think what he was really saying was that we should instead kidnap foreign leaders. that is truly the constitutional response to this crisis.

Absolutely not in a ground war from america or any waging of war from us of any kind!
guess i wasn't very clear.

We should at least try this route.

Edited for clarity.

I do not think we should be involved in syria's internal business at all.
i do think if any action is taken by us is should be done related to the treaty thru the UN

that's exactly what thomas paine proposed in the federalist papers. and if one day the U.N. decides that our president has violated the rule of law he should have to surrender to an international body too!

fantastic ideas! it's like i'm talking to a real live founding father.

Oh.. you mean like how Gaddhafi was executed in the field and sodomized? Yeah.. right. Assad knows what is coming to him if he surrenders or give up anything.

Lol

Its not worse. I have a hard time seeing it play out but if Assad did actually surrender there would surely be a lot fewer lives lost. If he were interested in that at all he probably could make a deal, right now, giving him luxurious living conditions for the rest of his life and protection in exchange for stepping down and disappearing to make the U.S. look good. (don't actually know if thats true).

I'm a non-interventionist so I would protest this option being carried out as well. It might be a "better" way to intervene (not sure) but I'm a much bigger fan of the current American sentiment of just staying out of it all together.

I'm glad the U.N. isn't doing anything. If they were pressuring us to be involved I'm sure a lot more of the public would be in support of the war.

I don't believe Assad committed any crime other than contempt of USA. We are definitely down the wrong path in allying with al CIAda
