It HAS to stop in my opinion. Get off your asses talking about a 3rd party and get out and canvass.

Any posts regarding running 3rd party are detrimental to the campaign, it shouldn't be what we are focusing ANY energy on at this point.

And yes I realize that this post is hypocritical, sorry.

I suggest for Mods to create a rule, or just start moving all third party posts to Hot Topics or something.

I'd rather make a ton of waves in the Republican race and establish a lasting presence within the GOP that can change it from the inside out than beg and plead to be on the ballot in each state and toil in obscurity.

Interestingly, Ron Paul agrees with me. Hopefully his supporters get the hint.

Ron has already said it is "safe to say" he won't win the GOP nomination, so WTF are you talking about???? Ron himself has hinted strongly at an independent run twice in the last week.

I've heard the "let's change the GOP from the inside out" from Larry Elder back in the days. He joined the Republican Party. The GOP ended up changing him.

If you don't like the talk about the possibility of Paul running third party, simply don't reply to threads that discuss it. Personally, I don't mind the idea, but agree that at this point in time, it's still a little too early to talk about it (though I might be wrong, in that the very possibility of Paul running third party is a great motivational factor in my continued support, and it might very well be the same for others).

Roll those eyes. How many here would have believed that we would have had the same two families guide this country for over 20 years?

That has nothing to do with 3rd parties. The Clintons and Bushs ran against plenty of people in their primaries and were able to win, that has to do with the will of the American people - idiotic as it may seem.

I agree having to choose between 2 versions of the same thing is stupid.

But if your goal is the health and long-term viability of Ron Paul's message, it will thrive most and best within the GOP, especially when you see what is in store for the next four to eight years.

I want to remind people that Ron Paul himself has said how distasteful and truly awful an experience running on a third party is. He has absolutely zero interest in it and will only do so out of a sense of obligation to the grassroots, if enough of us demand it.

I have a feeling that a LOT of his support will drop off if he does, and I think he knows it too.

While many of us are independents or members of some other party, many also are Republicans looking to save the GOP from what it is becoming.

Since Ron himself has zero personal interest in a third party run, and OH YEAH HES A REPUBLICAN, this is mainly the product of non-GOP supporters that want to have their moment of defiance rather than look out for what's best for the Message.

Good, Josh

Good, Josh. Can I assume you are also on the ballot as well? If you don't have the slightest clue of what I am talking about, you had better ask me before it is too late.

I don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about David.

I don't think RP should run as a 3rd party candidate. He should run as an Independent. An Independent won't have the baggage that comes with 3rd parties sometimes--even though I do vote 3rd party many times. But if you run as an Independent you won't have that baggage and you will be able to pull votes from both parties. If Clinton and McCain win. I really do think that RP can win the election. There are enough people in both parties that hate both people. RP would have to run a slick campaign to tell people that it is OK not to vote for either one because they are both the exact same. He would have to tell the people that he is real change.

If Obama wins. RP would have a little rougher time getting the younger vote.

stop making unbinding polls in an attempt to limit discussion, get off your ass, and canvass!

Sorry, I couldn't resist

3rd party should not be discussed. Because it takes away from the motivation to do our best for the Republican nomination. Once we have lost the nomination. Then bombs away... run 3rd party and let the democratic nominee win. Because they're clearly more fit (unless its Hitlery) to run the country than Willard and John.

Yes. Relegate this distracting and destructive bullshit to its own subforum buried deep, deep somewhere wherever.

We will only win in the Republican Party. It's an unfortunate truth, but we should have accepted this long ago.

we shouldn't shut out the 3rd party discussions, because it IS a part of strategy. RP hinted at this in that progress video recently and we simply can't discount the fact that it might happen. That being said it is not something we should hope for, were in this for the nomination folks, keep the thought of a RP vs Hillary run or RP vs Obama, they just won't be able to stand up to him. Keep it goin guys.

Ron Paul hinted at nothing other than taking his campaign clear to the RNC. Ron Paul is not going to leave the Republican Party and give up his seat in the House to run 3rd party.
