Time to Blast Romney!!!!

We should have been blasting Mitt Romney since New Hampshire.

It's not gonna happen. The campaign, for some reason, is unwilling to attack Mitt Romney, just as they are unwilling to run ads on foreign policy or electability.

This. I don't understand it at all. We had Iowa literally right in our grasp, and the campaign pissed it away by refusing to do a thing against Romney like they did with Gingrich, and then refusing to do anything about Santorum either.

Ah well. A win in Maine would make up for whatever we get in Florida (I suspect single digits).

A win in Maine would certainly be nice, but it won't really make up for anything. The media won't hardly cover it all, especially if Ron wins it.

The media would probably say something like: "Only 6,000 people showed up, and it's a state with a very small population. Such a state doesn't mean anything."

You can almost sense these types of talking points from the MSM, can't you?

Yes. The media has become incredibly predictable. The fact that the sheeple still eat it up is what's so frustrating.

Ron has to start building up his own image. We need ads on electability and foreign policy... I don't understand why this hasn't been done yet. Meanwhile we've got ads featuring Ron's old patients talking about how he was a good, pro-life doctor. Priorities much?

Mitt Romney: Flip Flopper (multiplechoicemitt.com) Not leadership material. (Ron Paul is a veteran and a doctor. He could run circles around Romney in crunch time.) How 'bout them apples?

We won the Iowa popular vote. I don't care what the conspiracy theorists say.

Do a search on my posts here. I've been blasting Romney's pathetic performance as governor ever since I joined this forum. I see him as EVEN WORSE than Obama. <And that is sinking really low>

He WASN'T a job getter. In his ONE term he managed to make Massachusetts the 3rd worst state to find a job (47th out of 50 states and ONLY that high because LA had Hurricane Katrina). Romney left office with a 67% disapproval rating. He appointed DEMOCRATS to judicial positions 75% of the time instead of conservative lawyers. His history as a capitalist includes accepting $10 million of BAILOUT MONEY (paid for by us taxpayers) and keeping $4 million of it for HIMSELF. Massachusett's state treasurer says Romney's MANDATED Romneycare has almost bankrupted the state.

The same corporate interests that financed Obama's campaign are Romney's top campaign donors...starting with Goldman Sachs and including ALL of the Too Big To Fail (bankrupt) Financial Institutions.

Mitt Romney is the biggest War-Monger running. In speeches, in debates and on his website, Romney pledges to add 100,000 active duty troops, to build MORE ships and to build more planes. He accuses Obama of being "too timid" in the middle east. He says "he would have gone after the drone and GOT IT BACK."

And if ALL OF THAT ISN'T BAD ENOUGH, Romney assaults our civil liberties. He is on record supporting the patriot act, supporting NDAA and says on his National Defense website he is going to Fight cyberspace piracy (SOPA, ACTA). Romney says he TRUSTS Obama not to abuse the powers given to the Federal government in those acts and WE CAN TRUST HIM TOO. When somebody says, "Trust me", DON'T!

I've been doing my part to point out why I believe Mitt Romney was chosen for his lack of moral compass (he lies about everything, ALL the time) by corporate interests the same way that Obama was.

Unlike many, I am fine with Romney being Mormon and have no interest in whether his stances on social issues are conservative or progressive.

That he is a hypocritical liar who switches positions at the blink of an eye, was an incompetent governor who left with a 67% disapproval rating, that he is big government, was pro-big-bank bailout and EVEN personally took some of THAT money, that he supports ASSAULTS ON LIBERTY and advocates spending MORE of OUR GDP on building up the US military and thinks Obama's unconstitutional "killings" are being TOO TIMID. For THOSE reasons, I consider Romney unfit. Even more unfit than Obama...and those are hard shoes to fill.

imo

The problem with attacking Romney is that the average Republican voter would then just switch to Gingrich.

No incentive to attack Romney, everyone knows his dirt already, we won't get his supporters, and time is wasted that could be used to get our message out. We need to take advantage of the time we have to get his message out.

Yeah, but if we do nothing to attack Romney... Romney might become unstoppable.

No it's time to start attacking Robomney! Start with the George Soros endorsement of Romney and let loose on Obama. Attack everything they agree on, which is most everything.

Why won't Paul take these guys down? He uses words like "nibble" and "chuckle" in this unbelievably aggressive Republican primary.

When he could be highlighting his opponents hollow fiscal policies, he goes into the weeds on monetary policy. I don't understand it. I've read Romney's "59 point plan". The guy blurts on. Then, there's Paul somewhere behind all of the low hanging fruit.

I wish he were saving it up, but I don't think he is. I hope I'm wrong, but sometimes it is as if he were running for a cause. He seems more loyal to the voters he has, than the ones he needs. We can "blast" Romney supporters all we want, off stage. But something has to happen on stage. I'm finding Romney supporters do not engage. They acquiesce, softly, like druids.

Yeah, we have to open up fire on Romney. Too much of a risk that he runs away with this. If anything the previous contests have proved, it's that negative campaigns work.

Nail him where he's weak...forget the stupid stuff like flip-flopping and abortion...voters don't care about that.

* Target his support of the bailouts (voters don't like this)
* Target how he and Bain got bailed out by the government
* Target the banks who are financing his campaign and point out they got bailed out too (create a theme with this)

If Newt and Rick try to hop onto this financial train...knkock them back off. Newt supported the bailout (makes him an easy target) and Rick while claiming he wouldn't have supported TARP had he been in office (yeah right) did vote for the airline bailout (probably other bailouts as well if the records are checked).

* Target his militarism (while right-wing voters may like this, they will fear a candidate that will scare away independents in the Fall)
* Make a big deal about the national debt...how fast it is growing...and how Mitt's numbers don't add up (especially when you count his new Navy and armed forces numbers)
* Know most won't like it...but I think it will work. Target Mitt's support for a war with Iran. Paint a picture of the last decade with all the money spent, wounded, killed...then ask the viewers...do you want more of this with Mitt? (coupled with lots of pro-Iran-War quotes from Mitt). This is properly executed will NOT result in more votes for Gingrich nor Santorum.

Now would be a good time to start blasting him. I actually agree with the campaign's strategy to this point: if we had attacked Romney earlier, it would mostly have set up Gingrich for twin wins in SC and FL. But with us now heading into territory that is really bad for Gingrich (AZ, CO, Maine, Nevada and others) we don't have to worry as much about him benefiting. Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war!

Welcome to 2008 all over again.
