Time for a new campaign manager?

People are already on the streets.
To say that this is not true is bullshit.
We have more foot soldier then every other candidate.

Ron needs to change his message: less olive branches more arrows.
People are scared. He needs to tell them that he we do what it takes to keep them safe. He can do this and still shrink the empire.

Campaign management sucks. Keep the IT person and add two more. The groups and meetups and forums are out of control. The internet is not being fully utilized.

Changed the top management, fire them now! Spend the money!
Money willl flow into the campaign based on performance.

We should have never lost to John McCain. He spent nothing and showed up in Iowa three times!

The grass roots did the best they could do without direction. It is a management problem!

This is not your grandfather campaign! Get with it or loss it! We need people who can think outside the box. We need real strategist.

I said before and I'll say it again: this is not an experiment in political science.

I see all the other candidates here and there, but never RP. A good creative campaign manager would do something to end this media blackout. Create some news, dammit, hell do something controversial, just do something. Time will run out. ok

My only criticisms I have about the grassroots is that they are not targeting likely caucus/primary goers, as well as wasting their time over worthless crap like online polls and such. Here is what it comes down to: getting votes. Lots, and lots of votes. If we can get thousands of people to a silly rally, why can't we get people to go to something that actually counts, like their primary/caucus/convention? From what I've observed, there were very little efforts to register people and get them to the primary, target those who are already likely to vote in their primaries to vote for Ron Paul, and explain the process. Some short inspirational video gets hundreds of thousands of views, but a video explaining the process gets a thousand at most.

The original poster in this thread can understandably cast around for someone to blame. He's earned it, it sounds like. His expectations were high.

Don't blame the campaign. Ron Paul has been on so many mass media shows, it ain't funny.

BLAME AMERICANS. AMERICANS ARE ****ING STUPID AS ****!

But, before you blame Americans, realize that Iowa is even stupider than Americans are! They support Bush 70% pro and are still living in the First Wave agrarian economy! Not everyone knows that WIKIPEDIA IS A VERB!!!!!!!!

MANY IOWANS WHO VOTED DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE INTERNET IS!

This movement is the FUTURE. 10% in the first inning is GOOD. You sound like you're going to quit. The campaign is doing fine. He sounds GENUINE AND UNIQUE, everywhere I see him.

The real world is SLOW to change and everything takes WAY MORE ENERGY THAN YOU ORIGINALLY ESTIMATE. THAT'S BUSINESS, POLITCS, LIFE, EVERYTHING.

It's CALLED INERTIA AND IT'S A LAW OF THE UNIVERSE. Complain when it's clearly done. IT DOESN'T SOUND CLEARLY DONE TO ME!

WE ARE THE VANGUARD.

Look at his fundraising for the last three quarters. Support takes time to grow. Vote wise, we're second quarter now.

Finally, nothing is impossible. But, given the tremendous effort the orginal poster and others have put in, they are understandably exasperated that FRED THOMPSON GOT VOTES, WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, exactly C-Dog. Things are looking good from here, but we have some serious work to do. And no, it's not BLOGGING

We can "want" Ron Paul to roll heads but it is completely up to him. If it were me.. and it ain't me.. I would see about hiring someone with PR experience.. marketing experience not necessarily someone with campaign experience since evidently the best ones have already been drafted.

There are plenty of executive types who know how to organize and coordinate and diversify a marketing program on short notice. Who does that? How about concert promoters or something in that vein? There needs to be some creativity and organizational skill happening.

I don't see it happening with this current crew. But then I don't live in a time crucial state like NH or IA.

10% in a welfare State like Iowa is not a bad start, but we are not playing to win.

Many of the top folks hired are Libertarians (big L). I love Libertarians, but they generally do not know how to Win. My State Coord's big idea was to hit the Democrat strongholds in my mostly Red State. This would be a great addition to another statewide strategy which focused on GOP, but not THE strategy for the State! They (we) do not think big enough.

We must convert some blue-haired ladies in order to win any State. We failed to do it in Iowa, turn-out was high, students were on winter break - we lost big. No Excuses.

We will lose NH for the same reason unless we can get those people out to vote on Tuesday.
(Notice I did not say 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, but lose. It is win or lose - yes victory can be 2nd, but lets shoot for 1st each time.)

Call the campaign, become a precinct captain, aquire the voter lists from them, call and/or visit each person on the list, and lets win this thing!

FYI the reason I don't post a great deal is because when I have leisure time - I am in the streets introducing people to our movement. Our movement is about ideas, but it still requires physical effort to deliver them. We have defeated the internet, lets take over the real world now.

No, there should be just better coordination between campaign and grassroots. Perhaps a liasion position should be created.

Considering Iowa demographic, RP did well with 10% vote.

This is good start but we should be bit concerned about the message of campaign going forward. It is surprising why Ron Paul campaign has not been aggressively going after support of big majority of Americans who are very concerned about current course of America and see Bush/Cheney war policies as bad for America. RP need to question judgment of candidates who supported Iraq war policy and show how it undermines American security.

RP need to hit hard on Iraq war/foreign policy issues and how they effect taxes/economy/liberties at home. RP had the foresight and courage to oppose Iraq war years ago and need to capitalize on that. Now will be good time to take a look at our ads for NH and make sure we have the right message of Hope and Change and nothing like the recent controversial, pandering ad that was played in Iowa. Iraq War and its human, financial, liberty costs should be highlighted. We should stick with the message RP sent out in debates, that works. Majority of Americans consider Iraq war a mistake and chances of someone who supported Iraq war going to the White House in 08 are between slim and none.

Jesse Ventura style

We need a hip, young, anti-establishment style to all the commercials, not a grandpa's golden retriever pumpkin pie style. The last two short commercials for health care and immigration were more on the right track but we need something is that is funny and memorable like Jesse Ventura action figure fighting special-interest man commercials. Nothing makes voters remember you better than a witty, plus informational, commericial. Nothing will help Ron Paul more in my opinion and if the official campaign can't realize this there needs to be a new person in charge of that area.

"Trust me. People don't know about him. When they do, they like him. "

That is it. People don't know "Ron Paul". I cold call for RP, and most I talk to have never heard of Ron Paul. Do something about it! Damn it!

The Revolution is very strong at heart.... very strong. We are also very small once you get away from the large cities. Yesterday morning I drove thru the upscale part of town and not a single Ron Paul sign. The local Ron Paul meetup group here only meets once a month and it shows. ( I drive north 23 miles to find a weekly group sad to say )

I spoke to 7 strangers yesterday and all 7 had never heard of Ron Paul... they were NOT bubbas, they were educated business men and women in their 20's.

Not just boots on the ground... we need some sales training to make us stronger. We need to sit around with each other and spar back and forth on our candidates strong points, we need to be able to deflect jabs and smears. Anyone listening ?

Peace and Joy
Ramblin Randy

PS: As to a campain manager.... please use more grass roots commercial ideas... please please please. The current commercials are good but they are NO WHERE NEAR GREAT. I've spent way too much time LOL watching youtube vids this past month... the following vid is made by a Video Composer and Historian and it rocks... hire this guy please:

Ron Paul Rising

where's that tie?

...As long as there's this perception that Ron's supporters "aren't Republicans", many mainstream Republicans aren't going to support him. Put on a tie with elephants on it, go out there, and prove them wrong.

Take the party back.

Good advice. Let's join the party, not fight it. Let's "fit in" as best we can, not revolt...

I know I have a tie somewhere in this closet....

Evangelicals can not be reasoned with. They actually thought they were voting for GOD last night. This is no reflection on the official campaign.

For Ron Paul to win their votes he would have to literally quote scripture constantly and wear his religion like a badge of honor. Anyone who does that can not win a national 50 state campaign. Democrats and Independents make up the majority of the vote and they all think Evangelicals are insane. So, be thankful Ron Paul did not go that direction. We ant their votes but not at the expense of losing the whole country.

i'd like to see add some speech writers and speech coaches to his staff. he does very poorly, in my opinion, of answering charged questions effectively in as few words as possible. he wouldn't have to change his message, only express it better. this takes practice. he could do fewer interviews and practice his speaking an hour a day for a week and be better off for having done so.

after that i'd like to see more professionally crafted ad pieces. again, not to get all glitzy and superficial, but to package his message to have maximum impact and to strike at the heart of our emotions as do many of the independently made videos we see (ironically, from non-professionals).

maybe a new campaign manager who be need to make the above changes. the campaign has become the ball-and-chain of this movement (note: not Dr. Paul, but the campaign staff). I know they are good people working hard and with good intent, but they might have to step out of their own way to advance this campaign. Adding a couple key pieces could do wonders.

No Hq Has To Go!

Greetings,

I have just woke up to a nightmare. First I read all your post! Second the first thing I hear turning on the tube is that Bush still wants to bomb Iran. Third I'm on boat and I'm in the middle of a very bad storm. Oh and Britney has had an other melt down!

peacemonger said "Evangelicals can not be reasoned with." STOP DISCRIMINATING! We need not to alienate anyone.

Liberty Star said the smartest thing of you all. " No, there should be just better coordination between campaign and grassroots. Perhaps a liaison position should be created."

liberty_Forever said "Yes, exactly C-Dog. Things are looking good from here, but we have some serious work to do. And no, it's not BLOGGING"

WRONG! Things look like shit when can't beat Mccain who spent no money or time in the state. "You cannot shoot or move unless you can communicate" If anything we are not wasting time here on the net. In fact we are under utilizing it! Who ever decided to use "Meetups" should be tied and horse wiped! My hat is off to the inventor of this forum. My hat is off to all the folks make the vids to push Ron. To all the folks that engage in debate on Redstate.

Our target audience is young voters not old farts who will vote the status quo come hell or high water. Yes we can change some minds. Going D2D is not effective and Iowa proved that. It fact it may have been over done. Some folks got so many phone calls and visits it turned them off.

Ron has to change his message and start letting the folks know that they will be safe. He needs to say he will hunt down Bin Laden. He can do this while making the argument of shrinking the empire. He has needs to talk about heath care more. How he will use the savings to take care of those who need help. In fact I'd like to hear how he's going to fix the heath care system anyway. What leave it to free market? More bullshit.

The bottom line is management team blew it bad! Things are not good. The failure to beat McCain proves it. Fire them all now! Spend the money in SC and win. I want management team off the forums. I want to see a coordinator. I want this top down model of management through meetups tossed out the door. This campaign is flat managed and they need to get that idea through their thick skulls. I don't work for you. I work for myself and my interest. If Ron wants my money and support, things need to change. Everything good has been done by grass roots not HQ. We are the inner circle not them.

John K
