2nd Burgess Amdt being voted on now.

Burgess (R-TX) [2nd Offered] - Page 30, Line 6 - Removes language under Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation related to the Domestic Enriched Uranium Demonstration Project.

Burgess Amdt fails: 131-291. :(

Titus (D-NV) - Page 59, Line 10 - Strikes Sec. 509. Sec. 509 prevents the Department of Energy from moving forward with plans to close Yucca Mountain. (no opinion- I don't know enough about this issue to have an opinion. interesting vote though.)

One more vote after Titus amendment:

Lynch (D-MA) - Increases Corps of Engineers Civil Construction by $20 million and reduces Fossil Energy Research and Development by the same amount. (no opinion...both are unconstitutional programs...I'd probably vote yes because I think there's a better argument for the Corps than for research, but I really don't like this massive government.)

The democrats are concerned about cuts to energy and infrastructure projects.

For one, what are they worried about in regards to energy projects? If there is a market demand for new energy sources, the projects will get funded. Cutting federal funds should also come with cutting regulations that discourages private innovation.

2nd- cuts in infrastructure? Dont like it dems? Then maybe you should start putting pressure on those who insist we build the infrastructures of countries we occupy. And like to send our money as "aid" to rich people in poor countries, who hate us anyways.
Well said!

AMBER ALERT: 17 Trillion in debt (http://www.usdebtclock.org/) with a guaranteed toxic future. If elected in 2014 my focus will be on reducing the size and scope of the Federal Government significantly and returning to the true rule of law.

Update: Titus Amendment Failed 87-337.
Lynch Amendment Passed 217-206.

Amendments debated recently:

An amendment, offered by Mr. Whitfield, to prohibit use of funds in the bill by the Department of Energy for wind energy programs. (YES)

An amendment, offered by Mr. Fleming, to prohibit use of funds to pay the salary of any officer or employee to carry out section 301 of the Hoover Power Plant act of 1984 added by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. (Urging YES vote!)

Recorded vote has been requested.

Speier (D-CA) - Reduces Fossil Energy Research and Development by $30 million (lean yes...I don't know where the money goes to, I presume debt reduction though. I just wish that Democrats would be more consistent in their opposition to energy programs funded by the federal government).

Chabot (OH) now speaking. Proposed an amendment with Rep. Sanford.

Chabot Amendment would save $90 million by eliminating several programs in the Dept. of Energy.
