"This little psycho-*uck family of ours is going to tear itself apart"

This is a quote from the movie Pitch Black. For some reason it comes to mind whenever I think about Ron Paul supporters. We are all so different. Black & White and from various parts of the spectrum. It is evident on the boards and in the radically different views people do/don't share. We are fundamentalist Christians from the right and raving liberals on the left who would normally be tearing each-other apart.
I hope we can keep it together and get this man elected. It is crucial that people overcome their animosity at least for a time. Even here on the forums.

As long as our AIM is the same then the goal can be reached. The paths we each walk to get him elected will be different but I think we all know that WE NEED him elected.

A perfect example of freedom being a uniting principle.

The neo cons and the liberals both want us divided into camps fighting each other so we don't pay attention to what they are doing. They divide us old vs young, black vs white, rich vs poor, republican vs democrat, left vs right, women vs men, etc etc etc.

Time to ignore all that and work for freedom for all.

Rather than the right /left, black/white, liberal/conservative tags I like to think we are Americans.
I am not that easily categorized. I just don't quite fit any boxes. That is a good thing, it makes us a hard target.

A Ron Paul government would mean that we would be unable to abuse the power of government to screw each other over ;)

If Ron Paul were president, I believe he would be rather Reaganesque in his ability to change America's overall attitude in the country, and to change the attitudes of foreign countries toward America as well. It would be a welcome change for the better.

I'm going second this sentiment and dismiss this thread as the creation of a naysayer.

Amen.

And more, I'm regularly impressed by the way the collaborations are composed on this forum. There have been some heated threads, of course, but for the most part it feels like everyone is supportive not just of RP's message and campaign but of each other as well.

It is refreshing. On pretty much every other forum I've frequented, there seems to always be those special individuals sitting around waiting for a post that they can pick apart and argue against just for the sake of arguing.

Fred Thompson's (and others) campaign verbage would have us believe that somehow Americans are divided and need big bad Federal Government to swoop in and unite us once again. WTF are they talking about? Americans may have differing feelings on some topics but look what people do in times of need -- they pool their resources and effort and risk personal well-being to at least do their best to help others. Look at the outpouring of volunteerism after 9/11 for a great example. That wasn't Giuliani's doing, that wasn't Bush's doing that was us. That was our brothers and sisters from all beliefs and walks of life standing for their fellow Americans and others.

In addition to the obscene amounts of tax dollars taken from our labor to feed disgustingly-leaking and corrupt Federal programs and departments so a few of those dollars can find value actually helping people in true need (after the sharp suits are done filling their pockets, of course), we Americans STILL scraped up even more money and many of us sacrificed significantly to help the efforts in a MUCH more efficient way (as Ron Paul would say ((paraphrasing))... If the Red Cross' efficiency level (money getting to the cause) dipped below 90%, they'd be out of business... What does that say about FEMA running at around 40%?).

We, the people, are still America and our greatest treasure. We're not Americans at the liesure and permission of our government. We're Americans. Our current screwed up government is something differerent entirely.

It's past time to set the stage for pushing our government back toward the right direction. Go, Ron Paul for President!... and GO, YOU!

edit:
whoa... that turned into a li'l rant didn't it? A couple brewskies can have that affect :)

Kennedy managed the same thing. He was a different breed of Democrat, and he actually reduced taxes.

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country!"

He didn't mean *what you can do for your government or what the government can do for you.*

It really was a big step outside of neo-con and liberal thinking, and quite a profound mindset indeed!

it's happened before

Not much different than what existed during the Revolutionary War. A common enemy requires united action and provides the motivation to continue to be united.

I thought you were going to say "...the Republican Party." I think it applies to the GOP far more than to Ron Paul supporters.

There is a difference between two people who differ in opinion that get along and two that don't. Figure it out and support the two that get along every chance you can get.

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.

Especially, do not feign affection.

Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
