This Battle isn't over

It is disappointment that we are displaying. Again, right before a big event, bad news hits the streets. Contrast Ron's message yesterday to the TX convention with what Rand did on Hanity.
We Are Disappointed with the timing of this shit.

so true.

Hot topics, here we come.

There is so much idiocy on this forum, I am astonished.

Take the blinders off.

Politics is a game.

Stop being so naive.

Look at the big picture. Listen to the campaign when they say Romney will never be more than just an asterisk in the history books. Rand is a very smart politician, and I'm sure he speaks with his father every day. Do you not think they discussed this before it happened? Of course they did! Rand is his father's son. If you pledge to never support him because of this, you will be contributing to the failure of our movement.

We will have 500 delegates on the floor (and I don't think the campaign is lying to us - if you do, you are beyond stupid). That means our chances of winning the nomination are slim. Not impossible, but slim. But who cares? We are winning local and state offices. We are taking over the party little by little. Rand is the most powerful member of our movement today. He has wide-spread support outside of our movement. He needs to maintain this support - OR WE LOSE FOREVER. Wake up!

This.

Too many people speaking from their feel bads instead of their minds.

You ever think Rand Paul has talked to Ron Paul in private, being his son and all, and knows that Ron Paul knows that he's not winning the nomination?

I don't get why you think that would make a difference when Ron would have said he should do what he thinks is right a year ago, much less a day ago.

I respectfully disagree that we continuously move threads to Hot Topics to die. It feels like when someone says something the mods don't like. The mods kill the thread by moving it to Hot Topic where people stop to discuss it or we have to view the discussion through the eyes of the 5 people talking about it.

This announcement by Rand Paul is a "grassroots" issue. We are divided by this and people who are "on the fence" about this should be able to see the different view points. I thought we were the movement that welcomed dissent.

I personally feel like the our rEVOLution got co-opted. When you see Rand Paul on Hannity saying that he can gather support of young people independents to vote for Mitt Romney. There are people on these very forums who will now vote for Romney because they trust Rand Paul has some sort of plan. It turns my stomach. It sucks but it is something that needs to be discussed.

Our movement has been hijacked and if not at the very least, it has been fractured. We all still want liberty but now some of us will be going down different roads to achieve it.

I personally feel this is how the GOP co-opts a movement. They did it to the Tea Party and they are now doing it to the rEVOLution.

I agree. Something is happening, and has been, that is warping the appearance of the message and the man. The announcements are too coincidental and have had a huge impact on the results.

My heart is fully behind Ron Paul all the way to Tampa and the final results of the same.

Best post of the day, sums up how I feel 100%.

I wrote this post rushed, so excuse the errors.

What I don't understand is why Rand Paul decided to make this endorsement now. And I am sure he told his father first about this, which makes me wonder why Ron Paul agreed to let Rand make that endorsement. Rand not telling Ron indicates that there is something seriously wrong in their relationship, and I have heard nothing that indicates that is indeed the case.

Anyways, no one would blame Rand for supporting his father. He would be expected to back Romney after the nomination, but to do it now really doesn't help Romney at all and only serves to split Rand from his father's supporters. People here are saying that he is playing politics, but that isn't even his cardinal sin, which is that is playing politics extremely badly.

Also the idea that Romney has no chance against Obama defies reality. If the economy keeps getting worse then Romney will be in the driver's seat. It is extremely easy to see him winning now. If things remain more neutral (economy not going up or down) then he still has somewhat of a decent shot (maybe one out of three). If things get better than he has only the smallest of chances.

"Rand is the most powerful member of our movement today. He has wide-spread support outside of our movement. He needs to maintain this support - OR WE LOSE FOREVER. Wake up!"

So this is like North Korea where power is just handed over from father to son?

No sir, power is earned. Power is respect. This isn't about the Paul family.

Maybe Rand can earn that respect back from perspective but on the path I believe he's heading down, I doubt it.

Admittedly I haven't looked this morning. So my bad for that. Last time I checked was last night when it seemed like maybe the same handful of people were going in circles. I stopped when people started bragging about how much their state did for the campaign and how much votes their state got lol. I guess what I'm just saying is I'd like to see more input from a larger group of people and I feel that won't happen in Hot Topics.

they can't coopt us.

They most certainly CAN.

...we created the tea party and left the coopted parts...

Firstly, TEA PARTY was not original to Ron Paul Supporters.

Secondly, they DID bogart the Tea Party.

we would just be something new. Now that we found eachother, that is the main thing.

As I see it, the main thing is that the coalition of "WE FOUND EACH OTHER" was a hybrid of Republicans, disillusioned Democrats, confirmed Independents, leery Libertarians, and sundry apolitical HAD IT UP TO HERE / ANYONE BUT ENTRENCHED ELITE. Now, the Republican wing of the Liberty Moovement would like everyone to view REPUBLICAN GAINS as the next best thing to Liberty.

The Republican Party is every bit as much in the doghouse as when I LEFT the Republican Party, after more than THIRTY YEARS, under Bush/Cheney.

Depending on what we are showcasing, I do or don't want to see it, here.

none of that addresses my point, and I disagree on the tea party, however, I don't even care. the point is we don't need any label.

Right on . . . including-one-might-say-especially do we not need the REPUBLICAN label and attending complications.

We were the tea party when the tea party wasn't cool. The tea party has been hijacked since then by neocons.

Probably to shield himself from what we will attempt at the convention. Which is understandable. If he makes it after the convention, and we stir the pot (which we will), it could hurt him among the establishment. I know a lot of people don't like pandering to the old guard Republicans, but we need their vote. Rand is our opportunity to reach out to non-liberty leaning Republicans and bring them into the movement. Getting their vote and bringing them to our viewpoint is the best thing we can do.

It's all about timing...This weekend at the TX convention where we have troops on the ground fighting with everything they have got.
