Thin crowd at Presidency 5 - only 3 candidates contesting straw poll...

Just like Romney didn't compete at Ames. Candidates will be on the ballot, but they won't be spending much money to try to win.
 
Yeah, I was going to post that too. Cain WILL have people out in force it is his area. Heck, his only meetup is located in Florida. (Seriously, his campaign was at its height and focused on straw polls at the time these slots came open.)

maybe just a speaking slot?
 
It may not seem like much, but every little bit of exposure helps. I'm sure that there are some people who will like the fact that a top-tier Candidate Ron Paul came to their event while the other "big names" didn't. Sometimes, a little effort can go a long way
 
I don't think the campaign should skip it, by any means. I just don't think they should direct a ton of resources at it.
 
I don't think the campaign would waste resources on something will third tier candidates like Cain and Hunt. But if RP supporters spontaneously won it that would be really cooL!
 
It means that Cain, Huntsman and Paul will be speaking at Presidency 5 while the other candidates will not. All the candidates will be on the ballot though.
 
Should Ron be at the Mackinac Conference instead? Romney and Perry are going.
 
I feel, if you speak at the event you have to try to win it. If you want to downplay it as beneath you (as Romney does for everything, including the actual primaries :D) then you can't give the speech.
 
The problem with Presidency Five is it is $175 to attend and it tends to keep poorer RP delegates from going. Ive been laid off for 3 months and cant cough up the cash. Otherwise I would be there...its only 20 minutes from my house.
They do this each year to rig it towards the party established candidate. I dont think RP did well in it last time.
