They Like Ron Paul But.... Please Help Me Respond To This Issue On Defense

Part of the reason why it's aggravating trying to convince people about defense, is that Paul doesn't do it himself most of the time. He always says what we shouldn't be doing, but he doesn't talk much about what we SHOULD be doing instead.

He's supported the SDI, submarine technology, and the hypersonic weapons that reach anywhere within an hour. He doesn't talk much about this though and that's why people think he's weak.

YOU NAILED IT!!!!!! I love the guy but he does come off as weak, even I have my doubts sometimes if he does really grasp foreign policy. I know he does, but as you say it'd be nice if he said it once in awhile.

I had to respond quickly (with a tongue in cheek response, on page 2) as I had limited time . . . tho' I am not at all apologizing -
but your question deserves alot of attention, imho.

This is THE question that I am often confronted with in Iowa . . .

And, btw, just over this past Thanksgiving weekend a longtime, well-funded,
conservative (of the opposite sex - btw - from Jefferson County,Iowa no less) asked me :
"Well, what about his (RP's) foreign policy ? "

I told her to read A Foreign Policy of Freedom if she needs to understand Dr. Paul's position on a litany of issues over decades on the House floor,
outlining what non-interventionism really is and means from a constitutional prospective.

Border security is one thing . . . and using letters of marque - just as the war powers part of the constitution specify -
for something Doctor Paul termed "air piracy" is unique and genius for this era of legislatures and the prissy Executive Branch.

It all makes perfect sense really, Ron Paul is right . . . Ron Paul is a frickin' genius, imho !

You might want to send my original post which addresses some of the issues that the critic raises. Also, Ron Paul has repeatedly stated that he strongly believes in strong Defense. He also mentioned, for example, that if the Panama canal were closed down he would consider taking military action. Strong Defense is far different than starting wars of aggression against other countries and getting involved in their internal affairs.

Despite being Christian, and living western life styles, countries such as Switzerland are not hated or terrorized because they don't meddle in other countries and mind their own business. We were rather liked and respected in the Middle East until a few decades of our constant meddling in their region. But feel free to copy and paste my post (above) that goes into this issue in detail. I have been posting it in numerous places and it hardly ever gets challenged, and never with arguments that make any sense.
