Yet this is the standard for our Youth. 18 year olds and up are too lazy and uninterested in voting, and shaping their future. When you look at exit poll after exit poll, the older generation of Americans have more leverage in the future of their lives and this country than those that will inherit it.

What must it take to get the youth involved? A Draft? Is that the only issue that gets the youth involved in the country they live in...

I know there is a huge aspect that most young people feel they can't make a change, their views are 90% off mainstream, and there is no outlet for them to find people that feel the same way, and they simply have no care to waste their time... I know the internet will help the youth, but in reality, we will never see the youth step up and shape their future...

Denmark taxes about 60%. Currently they have about 40% of their young adults leave the country and never come back.

I would say that among the 20-30 year olds I deal with in the market place (CPAs, attorneys and computer people) when pressed on the issue the majority say they are actively looking for opportunities outside the states (rotations overseas, jobs, etc.). Most would prefer to relocate.

I would love to move to Australia....

I fully plan on moving to an oil rich nation like UAE or even my native Venezuela once the shit really hits the fan and the US goes to hell due to hyperinflation and peak oil.

I rather go to Brazil, they are 100% self sufficenet, and could problably use some experienced IT people...

I would love to move to Australia....

you don't even get to select your party's leader over there....it's force fed to you it's always the "lesser of two evils" system.

Besides, Australia is VERY socialist...not to mention guns = illegal now. *shakes head*

It doesn't matter if the young demographic all turns out to vote, the damn baby boomers outnumber every other demographic and they practically all vote on election day,
they let this country get ruined and by God they will continue the process all the way to the end.

DOn't get me started on the Baby Boomer generation... they ruined this country, took everything for themselves at each point in their lives, and leave nothing in their path.

Baby Boomers allowed the Societal change of Not taking caring of their parents...
Fiscal irresponsibility
DEBT DEBT DEBT, it's the way to live.

They say they did all this good, but I think any generation no matter how large or small would have accomplished civil rights, and other things...

What they did do is go to war for oil and profits 2 TIMES!

And They also created the Enron / Adelphia / World Coms

What real good has the SELFISH baby boomer generation done? My grandfathers generation is a great generation...

My generation is misguided and lost... due to teh thrashing fo the previous gerneation destroying millions of jobs, opening the borders, and selling off America for the last bit of profit they could.

They sold out the American worker for cheaper ones, and at every turn try to screw over your naighbor in order to get the better car, and better TV...

I feel the Baby Boomer generation has done FAR more harm in societal changes, economoic changes, labor changes, everything for the worse...

But hey thats just me...

I would assume any Country I go to... I wont be able to vote.

Haha, I never stop telling my mom that its all her fault that the country is in such dire straits. Shes a baby boomer (grandpa was in the navy for WW2)

and I was like, if only you took the doobie out of your mouth and paid attention to the squandering of all your liberties I wouldn't have to fight the damn revolution

all over again. Oh wells, I personally think that when the economy fails people will realize with crystal clarity what has been goin on, so buy gold and silver and maybe some bullets too.

Oh, its not just you.

You notice how the "ME" generation was anti-war when it was their turn to fight, but are now pro-war when they are too old to fight.

pieces of shit.

They were given everything by their parents and are taking everything from their children.

I won't be in this country by the time the lot of them die off. I give me another 3-4 years here TOPS. If my boomer generation parents want to see their grandkids, then they better start saving for overseas plane tickets.

Once my family leaves, we're not coming back, except maybe for the funerals of our boomer parents (no guarantees).

You people are way too harsh.

The blame can't be placed entirely on us..we've just been raised to not care.

There are dozens of variables that have affected the way we've become.

I can't argue against it, even if I am in said demographic, but we're not all like that. :/

Me too. This post sums up what I feel, right down to bailing on what's becoming an insolvent dump. Sorry to generalize against baby-boomers, but it's dead-on for your group as a whole. Thankfully I've got my baby-boomer parents and other loved ones to see the light, but this movement is a tough sell to a generation that should be very receptive to the message. They were supposed to be freedom-loving flower children after all.

Peak oil is a myth, look into abiotic oil. Alaska has more reserves than Saudi Arabia. The human race should develop an alternative to the current fuel supply. Move if you must but you just may find that something along the lines of CANR replaces our energy supply.

When the economy tanks and the NAU is announced there will be marches with pitchforks in hand.
