"The War on Cameras" - Stossel, Radly Balko, Reason, FBN

It's nice to see that story covered. While I believe technology on the whole is more threatening than beneficial to our freedom, cell phone cameras are definitely an exception. And that Qik site is fantastic!

With all the crimes they commit, no wonder the police don't want to be filmed. I guess that slogan we routinely hear from the police state and its apologists -- "If you're not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear from surveillance" -- somehow doesn't apply to agents of the police state.

On the down side, simply filming the pigs abusing someone's rights is often not enough to get even a conviction, let alone a just punishment. The government protects its enforcers from accountability as much as it possibly can. Typically a pig who gets caught on video wrongfully assaulting a citizen will be fired but not charged with any crimes. That needs to change. Until it does, I think victims should get sneaky and take justice into their own hands. Pigs will not stop abusing people's rights until they start suffering some real consequences for doing so.
