The War is Making You Poor Act [HR 5353]

This bill is a stroke of genius. And from a far-left progressive nonetheless. Nothing surprises me anymore.

How can you be a Ron Paul supporter and not like this bill? This bill can be considered the main part of the Ron Paul liberty platform... How else do you want to balance the budget and lower taxes except by cutting military spending? This bill helps with all three of those things.

Yes, people making over 35k will still pay taxes, but news flash, they pay taxes now, too!

It doesn't really do anything about reducing the budget deficit since the proposed cuts in spending would go to tax cuts. You would have to either give a smaller tax break than the spending cut or get rid of the spending cut and just reduce the spending. That would do more to help reduce the deficit. Ron Paul, while not opposed to any tax cuts, would prefer to get the spending under control first to reduce the debt and deficit before any tax cuts. This is a more fiscally responsible position.

Sadly, reducing military spending by $200 billion will not have a significant impact on a trillion dollar plus deficit. You could get rid of every penny spent by the Department of Defense plus the war supplementals and still not get rid of the deficit for this year.

The state doesn't get any smaller either.

He is such a far left douche domestically but you really have to appreciate the flair and respect his ability to sell legislation.

It's sad that a far-left liberal "gets it" much more than a so-called liberty candidate like Rand Paul. I just wonder if Rand will come out and suport this?....Im not holding my breath.

Agreed.

sadly, far-left progressives are far better on foreign policy than so-called "constitutional conservatives."

Agreed.

This bill could be a lot better, but less w$r funding and less taxes are always a great thing. Let's get it passed!

Love it, especially since the Chinese are paying for it all. Grayson does have a good side.

Anyone have a list of co-sponsors yet? Has Ron Paul co-sponsored or came out in support yet? I contacted my Reo, Joe Pitts, but don't expect any support from him.

To those saying this bill is dumb on the tax side. No, it is not. It is exactly what is needed. A tax cut with a concurring spending cut. Only 90% of the money won't be spent and collected, the other 10% will be going towards the deficit.

Sure, Alan Grayson is a Democrat that supported the Healthcare bill. Please don't let that from keeping you from supporting this important bill. Grayson also supports Audit the Fed.

Don't let partison politics cloud judgement.

I just emailed my Congressman urging him to cosponsor this.

Have you?

10% of the money saved will go to reduce deficit. it won't cover the whole 2 trillion dollar deficit, but its better than spending the money on bombs that kill children.
