The Virtual Ron Paul, Meet & Greet Home Kit
There have been a lot of posts about what to do next... how to raise more money... how to get more supporters... should we end the money bomb. I've been giving all of this some thought and have come up with an idea I think is worth considering.
A few disclaimers first...
This would be a rather large project to undertake. It is well beyond my personal capabilities and would probably require a PAC, corporation or the official campaign to actually make it happen. Probably the best path would be a corporate 'sponsor' or PAC for reasons that should become obvious. I have submitted the idea to the official campaign, Revolution PAC and ALCPAC. I have not heard back from any of them so I do not know if they have any interest in this idea or not.
At the very least, this would require strong central planning and execution to make it successful. So, a PAC might not be necessary... 'scholarship' funds could be obtained via a chipin... a fee to cover the materials could be collected. This would require real effort from a small, dedicated and responsible team. I would be happy to participate... but, can't do it alone.
The goal and objectives
A lot of folks here are maxed out or tapped out when it comes to making monetary contributions. So, how do we increase money going to the campaign? I think the answer is to enlarge the base of supporters. There are also quite a few folks here who perform much of their interaction with others regarding Ron Paul on the Internet. How do we expand into the 'real' world to attract more supporters for Ron Paul and, thus, more potential donations and votes? The first goal is to get Ron Paul the nomination for the Republican Party. How do we achieve that goal and reach across different aspects of niche voters; the young, the old, men, women, the neocon, the liberal, the rich, the poor, the business owner, the worker, military, civilians, police, government workers, private sector workers, etc. etc.? The ultimate goal is to get Ron Paul elected President. How do we accomplish that from our current, rather limited base, that is still largely isolated by meaningful public exposure?
The basics of the Idea
It seems obvious we need to reach outside our current 'comfort zone' and use a different tactic... while still making it comfortable? One, as far as I know, that has not been used previously in politics. But, there are good business examples of this model so I think the idea is viable. We do this by having EVERY Ron Paul supporter with a group of friends, family, coworkers, business associates and other human contact to approach them personally about Ron Paul. And the way we do this is by offering the tools and resources to achieve the goals and objectives above. Rather than just saying 'go out and enlist people' we put together a physical kit that can be used as a Virtual Ron Paul, Meet & Greet Home Kit.
This kit would be used to put on meetings in your home, dorm, barracks or other locations where you would invite people you know to attend. The 'virtual' part would be that Ron would not be there... but, some of the contents of the kit would be videos of him speaking about a given issue. This would be like a Tupperware party... there are plenty of other examples, but I thought this one would be the most familiar.
Each home party could be tailored for the group attending. The kit would have several 'canned' versions so it would be easy to pick one, but would also have an al la carte ability so the party host could tailor the message to those invited. Canned versions could include specific areas of interest... The Economy, Lowering Taxes, Ending Foreign Wars, Ending Foreign Aid, Home Education, Small Business concerns, Home Schooling, Abortion, Health Care, Immigration, etc.

The kits should be very complete and include videos and printed materials on positions. There should also be 'party favors' like pins, stickers, bumper stickers, yard signs, pens, shirts... a bunch of goodies to give out to the converted attendees. The events would have to be both informative and FUN!!! This is where some input from from folks who have actually put on these types of events would be really helpful. This has been done before and there is no point in reinventing the wheel. Let's use what has been successful in the corporate world and model this political version after what has already been proven to work.
The kit should also contain the tools needed to get these people registered and ready to vote! This is absolutely key. Unless we get them voting we will not be making any real headway. The proper materials for the local area would need to be readily available... registrations cards, etc. Or, change of party cards to make sure we get people voting in the Republican primaries.
Followups... a system for the party host to make followups should be included. Did they register, have they put up their yard sign, have the attached their bumper sticker, etc. The next followup would be to include converts in future money bombs. This is where we could obtain additional contributions... from new supporters. Have a followup event... a money bomb party and include the converts... make it another fun event to help push up the money totals.
Going Viral in the Real World
If we are able to enlist the people we already know... even if the group is fairly small... we can make this go viral in the real world. If the converts have their own home party for Ron Paul we could reach a completely different groups outside the people we already know. I'm not going to tempt you with mental images... ok, maybe one... think of your fellow employees, what if you won over several of them and they put on a home party for their family and friends... and so on, and so on.
Random thoughts... this should be well thought out and cover as many bases as possible. So, it could include local candidates (we really need to replace ALL of congress). Also, how to get delegates and get people involved in that process. The kit should include training materials for the host on how to put on the party. It will require professionals competent in a number of areas; copy writing, video production, collateral material creation, event planners, fulfillment specialists, and others. As this grows those experienced at hosting a successful party could be used as support for others planning their own party. Followup will be especially important to make sure we get votes and contributions. A related kit could be developed for taking this message to retirement homes. Another could target the military community. I think RPs message would do over big time with military families... especially the wives and mothers. (bring our troops home)
An extension of the network this method would create could be used to raise funds for the official campaign; fund raising or money bomb parties could be arranged and the converts could be invited to attend, participate (and compete) in donating to the campaign. A separate money bomb party kit might be considered. Targets are always important when aiming for goals... that's why its important to keep the money bombs but rework them so they are at times and with consideration to make them conducive to achieving the best results. Money bombs, and other campaign giving goals, should be centrally scheduled and coordinated.
Through these meetings we could begin vetting and drafting outstanding freedom loving business owners from the local community to run for congress. Or, through discussion, determine a good potential candidate, with the real possibility of winning, to support and run for congress. (a separate initiative could be used to actually groom them to run and win a seat in congress)
Any Interest in this Idea???
