The Taurus Judge

In South Africa nearly 9/10 have been car jacked. In South Africa, they have flames that come out from under the car and bullet proof glass, but it doesn't work, because they car jack in groups of like 4 or 5 to make sure you comply.

If one person comes after you, this gun is great. But if you have a group you are out of luck.

I suspect with five rounds of .410 you could at least even up the odds a little

the Taurus judge...IMHO that gun is a complete waste of time. Flame me if you want but for CC thats a dumbass gun......their are way to many guns that out perform, have more rounds, smaller, lighter than that damn tank.

I agree. Might be nice for snakes if your out in the woods though.

Just wanted to say, hubby was telling me this exact thing when I told him the title of this thread.

Good woods gun, but was not marketed for cc, and that is quite obvious (or it should be)....

It's not even unique. Shots shells, especially out of a handgun? That's NOT new. Does no one remember the Derringer?

And, BTW, IMO, Taurus sucks ass. Period. Taurus guns were not made for any type of abuse...not quite as bad as a Jennings/ Bryco, but...still not good. Other than the 410 cartridge as a woods gun, this gun is retarded.

Not sure I understand the point. .410 birdshot from that distance is going to get their attention, but it isnt going to STOP anyone. .410 buck is gonna be what, 2 or three pellets approximating the size of a .30 cal slug?

Id rather load it with .45LC. Thats a show stopper.

and if you are going to do that, might as well get something with more than 5 shots.

You might not think the Judge is so great after reading this:

http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot41.htm

It's sort of a neat gun, but it's really not the best choice for self defense.

I always like the Box O Truth.
Puts a lot of questions to rest.

Reminds me of the Thunder Five.

That was my thought too.

A friend had a 410 revolver years ago, I don't remember the make. But that was almost 40 years ago, Hardly new.

Not sure this would even justifly buying this gun for that......I just think there is more out there that are waaaaaay lighter and more comfortable that would serve better.

close up any shot simply does not have the time to reach a nice...hell even effective spread pattern for snakes. hell you might has well just bring a 38spl or 357mag along....will do just as good(or horrible) as the .410 would at 3-5 feet.

But then I dont buy guns for snakes.

.22 shotshells would do better on snakes than a point blank .410...........it would have a better pattern.

IMHO they just made this gun thinking it was cool to have a pistol shoot 410 and 45colt both....really nothing more than that.......now are trying to find a way to use the tank later.

Its a "tool" searching for a purpose...

.22 shotshells my ass.

They are HORRIBLY weak. You fire a .410 shotshell and it's gonna screw something up.

For the .22 shotshell to even be effective, 3-5 feet is stretching it, whereas with a .410 3-5 feet and farther is quite potent.

I have shot .22 shotshells at coke and beer cans at 10 yards and they barely make dirt pick up..they don't have ANY power behind them at all.. At between 5-10 feet you'd just piss a snake off.

If the pellets form the .22 hit anything living between 5-10 feet, it stops the pellets cold. They lose all potency/lethality (is that a word?)...whether it be fur scales, tough skin, they almost ricochet off.

3 feet I won't argue with... yeah, it''' mess a snake up, but at 5 feet or more...no. I will pick a .410 shotshell anytime. You are talking a whole other world.

If a snake is 5 feet or more from you......just move away. Still cant find a reason to buy the gun. sorry.

Most gun owners "overgun" and "over caliber" the situation. Again the Judge is a "tool" searching for a purpose...

well, it does fire .45 LC, which makes it a viable defense pistol. Unfortunately, its way bigger than it needs to be.
