The T-word is the new N-word

Quite a display of Orwellian Newspeak here. Ironically, they play a clip of a whole host of people using the word "thug", including the Mayor of Baltimore and President Obama. Ungood of them. And doubleplusungood for people they choose to demonize.

This is all over the place. NPR this afternoon had a language expert who traced the word Thugs roots to India and then segueyed into the use of the term "Thug" is a polite way to get by with the N word.

We have White trash areas in my local community. The term equally applies to them as well. I don't know what these people are talking about.

@GrumpierRedNeck I have zero sympathy for savages who burn stores, and for people who patronizingly make excuses for them.

Marxism 101. Control and pervert the language such that any opponent can be demonized on whatever they say.

I still call African Americans "blacks", so I know I should report to the nearest Fusion Center to rediscover appreciation for American culture. Are we still allowed to say Mexican, or are we supposed to be saying latino? Can we say gang, or is it disenfranchised gathering? I can't keep up anymore.

2pac used to be proud to be a thug ******. He sang praises about being a thug ****** till the day he died.

Dude on NPR said it's like the word ******, okay if an African American says it, but bad if Slave Master Crackers say it. I can dig that I guess, but it must really suck ass to get offended by this politically correct leftist, mealy mouthed, sweaty palmed bullshit. Just picture an NPR host.

I like it when people clutch the pearls, so this is all a great show. Pussies

Honkey, white bread, cracker

Just checking, but I sure hope RPF is not showing favorites in blanking out only certain stuff. Dats racis if true.

Yes, the word comes from the Hindi word "thugee," which referred to an old religious sect that engaged in...well....thuggery. The British imperial government eventually eradicated them (one of their many great deeds on the sub-continent). The difference between these individuals and our modern thugs is that the former believed in something, deranged as it was, and had some kind of ethical code. Sort of like the difference between the old mafia and today's organized crime.

Ridiculous! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug!

No! Unacceptable! No more censorship!
This is a back-door way of repealing the 1st ammendment!

Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug!
Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug!
THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG!

:) The term "thug" refers to a violent criminal... of any ethnicity.
The original "Thugs" used to waylay people and kill them ritualistically to show their devotion to the godess "Kali". (this is mentioned in the movie "Gunga Din")

Meanwhile:

Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! hug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug!
Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug! Thug!
THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG! THUG!

Wow. I don't know if any of you actually watched the whole segment, but at the end they have the "social commentator expert" come out to explain.

Basically he says that people using it get the same exhiliration as saying the N-Word, but they can use it in public.

Then the host says, well, Obama said it what about that, is he racist? Then he uses this weird analogy of someone who wears a Hitler mustache is not necessarily a Nazi.

So what they did in the clip is basically reaffirm what everyone already believes about the N-Word. That it's ok for black people to use it and not be racist.

Because what did they say? "people" get exhiliration from using the N-Word. But obviously a black person would not get this exhiliration. Therefore using the word Thug by white people is a replacement for the N-Word, but since black people don't "get off" by using the N-Word obviously them using thug isn't the same either.

Very sad, that they chose to perpetuate this. I'm sure some white people do this but validating this only causes blacks to project racism where it doesn't exist in my opinion.

Left it running and next episode perpetuated the "this is no different than the tea party riot" meme. Turned it off.

I remember now why I don't watch television.

I got in trouble for this on another thread, because apparently people have some beautiful vision about what the tea party was, especially on this forum I guess since we idolized it as part of this movement, but I'm going to reiterate here anyway.

The Sons of Liberty was essentially an NGO color revolution. Yes, it worked the same way back then. The Revolutionary War was a planned political movement. It was not poor people getting fed up. It was money interests who saw an opportunity to stop paying rent to England and instead shed some American blood to save money. They knew the land to the West was ripe for the taking and England was too far away to maintain power. It's as simple as that.

So my "analogy" was, yes, the looters are like the Founding Fathers. They saw an opportunity to take what didn't belong to them because the cops were powerless so they took it.

There's nothing righteous about a revolution. The righteousness is created when history is written by the victors.
