Re: Rand's Endorsement.. and other pertinent issues..

This endorsement is probably one of the biggest temporary dividers of our movement to date.. and I say temporary because I firmly believe it will not cause any lasting damage to our are current efforts..

It has been hard to watch the infighting that has been caused by very valid feelings by many of confusion and anger..

I have my opinions and have expressed them, and even I am not 100% sure that I am right about this.. there is so much information that we all lack from what I can see.

The thing is, we have made so much progress in so many ways.. I came into this 5 years ago and I can remember clearly the political dialogue of the time.. It is literally day and night..

I think that the following must be said: We have candidates that are running for various federal and state offices, we have delegates preparing for a battle for party platform, we have Audit the Fed to pass through congress... the list could go on..

I always feel like we spend too much energy and invest too much importance in the presidential race... especially after a certain point.. I will not get into Ron's chances and that whole discussion.. its a matter of opinion still at this point.. and its not relevant to what I am getting at..

the point is that we have a lot we can still do and achieve..

I will be honest, I have been feeling a bit confused as to where exactly to put my energy into to institute real liberty-oriented change in policy.. I am still not exactly sure, but I do know we have some great liberty candidates to support.. I think we can all agree on that and work together to help in those respective races..

I will be talking to mods and Josh to make some new forums for candidates that deserve them yet haven't gotten one yet.. please post suggestions..

hope this isn't half as convoluted as it seems to me ;)

I agree. We need to get back to rowing forward. Right now it seems like we are flailing around and getting very little done of any merit.

How do I find which are the liberty candidates in my state? Missouri?

Is there a list somewhere? Or do I need to do my own research?

there are several lists.. I will try to dig one up

We should definitely make a list of things supporters can focus on.

In no particular order:

1. Help pass Audit the Fed
2. Support candidates running for office
3. Support delegates who need funds to attend the national convention
4. Find out how to get involved and become a voting member of your local GOP

I agree...

I really think we should rally around Bills as he seems to have the hardest battle ahead of him AND it's a Senate seat.

Yes, A SENATE SEAT!

Rallying around Bills would give everyone a nice point to come back together.

Don't forget Bentivolio's MB today either! Even if you only give a dollar, and we all give a dollar, he'll be well on his way!

+ Rep to the OP.

We definitely need to refocus our energy in positive directions. Enough tearing each other apart. :)

No list is complete without stating job # 1.....supporting Ron Paul through Tampa.

Agree with the OP and I agree with this too^^^

there are somne good candidates running for state and local seats in the St. Charles area and from what i can tell, Brunner is a decent choice for senate.

Agreed. We need a set of standing orders. A sort of unoffical set of courtesy rules to reform our rank formation because we are wasting time and organizational strength.

Ettiquite Rules:
1. Don't attack fellow Ron Paul supporters. We are intelligent enough to warrent a throughtful debate and not an outright complaining to add to the complaining.
2. LET Ron Paul supporters complain about Rand. They will get over it in time. Their involvement is more important than Rand's cushiony job.
3. LET some Ron Paul supporters compromise and assimilate into the party structure.
4. Find and support local candidates you can rally around. They need our help NOW.
5. Keep preparing for the next party event NOW. We are suceeding and they are sweating. This campaign isn't going to end.
5. Buy a gun and buy a lot of ammo if you haven't already. If we don't win this one for the Ron, we best be prepare for the coming storm.

After the TX Convention, for the first time since Pre-Iowa Caucus, I felt like I had accomplished something. I came back beaming, only to find all of the infighting crap is happening. Lets move forward. Get involved locally, that's where the biggest accomplishments can be made (and the most immediate rewards can be reaped).

Yeah, we need like an "actually get shit done" section. I feel overwhelmed by all of the noise over the last week.

Great thread.

I just contacted all of my congress critters about the Audit The Fed bills.

Waiting to hear back about volunteering for Eric Knowles. I'm gonna follow up tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to donate to anyone for a couple weeks.

Thanks, everyone!

Agreed. The flailing around and infighting though was inevitable. When you have a bunch of people from diverse political and ideological backgrounds coming together for a sole purpose, once that sole purpose is no longer possible, then the group will divide and scatter. Those of us who have been at this for many years have seen this before.

The good news is though, that there are more people on board with the plan to restore the GOP to its founding principles than there were 4 years ago, and more than there were 8 years ago, etc.

Thanks to the OP for laying out some short term goals to focus on as well.
