The shuttle is about to grapple hubble. live on nasa tv.

they got it

And I bet it cost a few billion dollars to do that

From what I have read, it would cost a lot more to replace it.
The amount of knowledge gained from this one telescope gives it a higher value than most other space missions.

it would cost a lot less money to just abolish NASA :D

i have no doubts that the free market would eventually do a better job, especially once the government restrictions (mostly taxation) are gotten rid of

let me know when that happens so i can join the new space society.
until then, i will continue to enjoy the information i get from nasa.

When I lived in Orlando full time my cable channel got NASA TV. And I loved it... I'd sit there and watch it for hours on end. It was AWESOME during a launch because they would replay from every single camera angle.

I think that NASA should be rolled over into the USAF.

The free market doesn't do so well at long-term expensive research. Many of our technological advances these days actually are the result of the advent of Cold War military and space technology.

I was watching for alien spaceships zooming by in the background. I didn't see any! I guess these aliens all over L.A aren't coming from space and it really is a conspiracy theory.
