The Ron Paul Media Blackout Is Back On

He'll be back. They want to ask him if he's Rick Perry's stripper.

Seriously. They asked him that!

The black out is ok, right now, as long as the places he is going don't block him locally. Under the radar is just fine. But do ignore the national polls for right now.

The blackout before Iowa can definitely be blamed on the media.

But the blackout since NH can not. Ron took 4 days off last week (before coming in last in SC) and 5 days off this week. Sorry guys, but's the current blackout is 100% Ron's own making.

No he did not take 4 days off, he took two days off with Congress reopening.

What places has Ron been going to this week or last? Local stations in Maine, MN, NV & CO?

This article was written on Jan 13th... so 13 days ago. How many days has Ron taken off since this article? I don't count days where all he does is show up to the debate.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney hasn't taken a day off of the campaign trail since Dec. 27, and neither have former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman. Texas Gov. Rick Perry took a day or so after the Iowa caucus to consider whether to continue with his campaign, and decamped for the Palmetto State since then.

By comparison, Paul has taken off six days since Christmas. He took off Dec. 26-27 for an extended holiday to be with family in Texas, and took off New Year's Eve and New Year's Day to do the same. During this time, Paul's competitors were battling to shore up final votes before Iowa's Jan. 3 caucuses. Paul also took off the two days following the caucus before heading to New Hampshire last Friday to begin a weekend of campaigning before the Jan. 10 primary.

Paul finished third in Iowa, just about 3,800 votes behind Romney. He finished second in New Hampshire, though Paul trailed Romney there by a much wider margin.

Paul campaigned in South Carolina on Wednesday, but is taking off Thursday through Sunday to head, again, back to Texas. He ranks fourth in South Carolina, but within striking distance of moving upward, in the latest reliable poll of the South Carolina primary.

“Running for president is grueling. It's incredibly difficult, even for younger candidates,” Fleischer said. “I'm sure the reason Ron Paul's taking time off is because he needs to and deserves to. But he's doing it without being criticized any other candidate would be by the press.”

Does anyone here NOT think that if Ron had been on the trail instead of heading back to TX before SC he could've sqweeked out 3rd? How about FL?? Who here thinks that Ron wouldn't be in a solid 3rd place right now if he had spent this week hosting town hall events in all the major local media markets??

Lots of people read their local paper and watch their local news. Right now, Ron isn't in either because he isn't on the trail. That's a ton of "free press" being left on the table... and potentially, the difference between 3rd and LAST PLACE.

Oh, well. God forbid we miss a chance to have msnbc accuse him of being on meth because he's campaigning instead of sleeping.

In Tampa Bay the last 7 days ABC, NBC and CBS just show 3 candidates and 3 reporters and just ignore Dr. Paul the entire week. Can that possibly be random?

You said before SC. Ron did go off the trail after, but what if he is doing debate prep? Not to mention he is still a Congressman. I'd like to have seen him on the trail this week, and he will be on Friday, but 'just being at the debate' also involves flights, and he's done media. He is in it for the long run and I have to assume he is pacing it now while he is going to get no delegates from winner take all Florida anyhow, knowing how crowded his schedule is about to be. It isn't going to be one contest at a time, going forward.

Well, RP hasn't been campaigning since 21st. Thats the main reason for blackout this time.
