The real reason we lost. We didn't go for Obama's support.

This proves to me that the campaign isn't thinking or Paul isn't using good strategy.

We can't beat the GOP at the GOPs game.

Paul should talk about change, the war and the constitution.

Anything else he should leave alone unless asked.

I mean if he gets into a general election that's the only way he'd win anyway.

We are definitely in a battle with Obama. Him winning Iowa isn't good for us. He hurts us the most. We needed Hillary to finish better than him.

Iowa was THE BIG FOCUS of Obama's campaign from day 1. They put every effort from Illinois that they could into winning Iowa. I don't think it is a done deal for Obama though. He's going to have to keep an eye on Edwards. He did better than expected and he is a white male.

It doesn't make sense to go after supporters of a candidate that is on the complete opposite end of the political spectrum. Real problem is that libertarianism is not popular in this country and hasn't been for over 100 years. I was really hoping that this year would be different and it still could be but I'm not holding my breath.

Ron is the only one who doesn't treat people like cargo - bussing them in, pizza parties, and other socialist bullshit everyone else is doing.

Iowa is Iowa. Religion gets you elected there. Trying to beat Huckabee at his own dogma game is going to get us nowhere. We need to know our strengths and play to them. There was no way we were going to win Iowa, but I believe we could have done much better if we had emphasized our positions that get the young and the independent enthused. Namely, civil liberties and foreign policy.

That's the point though... they aren't on the other end of the spectrum they just want the war to be over with.

the republican party will not be reformed.

that's the message we should take from Iowa.

After the war, katrina, the vet hospitals, the lies, the torture............the christans still support evil.

It's time to realize that we do not win simply by converting republicans. We need to pull everyone in, from everywhere. The war pulls in voters, play it up, personal and civil liberties pulls in voters, play it up, gun rights pulls in voters, play it up!!!

We must redouble our efforts and redouble again.

I am interested in what the campaign says about today. We did not do better than projected (Thompson really hurts). We didn't do poorly either (10% is good in Iowa).

I know i'm right.

I wouldn't be here if it werent for those issues.

As soon as I saw that 30 min infomerical I knew we wouldn't do well because it starts out talking about abortion. That's not why I came into the fold and it's obvious that young people are voting... just not for Paul.

I think we can solidly blame the campaign for this........not Iowa, not the nasty ole MSM, and not ourselves.
Agree. Abortion and Religion=status quo. People want change.

In an open primary I would definitely agree, but I'm not sure how many Obama converts would've actually registered Republican.

We didn't play up the war and the patriot act/torture.

It's just that simple.

The Paul campaign decided to trumpet abortion, being christian, and other traditional values.

We didn't get new people in and that's why we lost.

I agree. Paul should go more on these issues of civil liberties. This is my biggest beef. Most people don't know the Bill of rights has been decimated, but wake up when they do. This should be the central theme.

You aren't going to win by targeting Anti-war Democrats folks...So many of them think of Obama and Edwards as an Ant-Iraq war candidate. And most probably wouldn't be anti-war had it been a Democrat President. We have to change Republican minds now.

The informercial turned me off and I am a supporter already. I am not here for his stance on abortion either. What is wrong with the campaign? They are drawing nearly everyone but Republicans and then create commercials designed for the Republican base. If they think they can win with THAT crowd they are out of their minds. Stop pandering to a group you cannot win over. You are only angering the folks you do have and losing all the ones you would win if you would talk about the things that we care about:
Freedom
Liberty
An end to inflation
An end to Income tax
A return to the values that made our country great.

Instead, they go for the Right wing, religious, let's rule the world crowd and try to appease them.

If this campaign doesn't hire a decent, well, every position, and soon they will have no chance. Not one person in the campaign is competent and they have never run a Presidential campaign before.

Incompetence never gets anything done.

yeah... i think Ron Paul is going to lose because those running his campaign not because of us or because lack of support/funds.

It's just bad strategy.

And now in Florida - it's too late anyways.

Shoud we start thinking 3rd Party? I'd love to rid myself of this Republican label. It makes me feel dirty. :D
